Strengths: GPS LocatorMS Maps
Weaknesses:Not the accurate
Overall Evaluation: I have been using the MS Streets and trips 2006 GPS locator for few weeks. I bought this one when there was a sale on Amazon.com for $26.00 I heard the GPS locator in 2007 and 2008 uses the Sirf technology and is 10 times sensitive compared to 2006. But this is an excellent software. Gives the gas and restaurent info. Unfortunately, unlike Street Atlas 2006--which automatically recalculates after a missed turn--S&T 2006 only reported "off route!" There is a "recalculate route from here" button, but the software doesn't automatically recalculate a route when you miss a turn. This should be an option, at the very least, and probably the default for any GPS program. Having to click on a button while you're driving can be distracting, not to mention dangerous.

Strengths: Very accurate when it comes to telling how fast you're going, according to your MPH. The voice direction feature is pretty good. Sounds like any other GPS that would be installed on a car.
Weaknesses:If you want to program something in the last minute, it is a big distraction, because you have to do alot of work connecting it to your laptop. Usually doesnt connect when you want it to. Takes retrys
Overall Evaluation: I would say that when it is all on you to drive somewere, it is a GREAT product. And because it is not that expensive, and you can take it anywere, even if it is somebody else's car. But because it is a laptop, it has battery life, so the GPS is kinda limited in that area. But it is always good to have settings to consume the lowest amount of power in your laptop. I like the program itself. It has alot of features at your disposal, which is good for a person who likes to go places. When it gives you a route, it gives you the closest route, and sometimes it may be the slowest, but it is good for you car, because it puts less milage on it. But if you know that it will be faster to drive on a highway, you can always drag a point on the route, and put it on the highway an it will continue the direcions for you from their. As in, you can tell where you want to get gas. It knows the nearest gas station, fastfood resturant, parks.... things like that. I would recommend it to anybody who really drives on his/her own, and who knows they might be visiting some place that they have never been to on their own.

Strengths: Cheap, Works pretty good over all, you can have GPS leave a trail where you been.
Weaknesses:Everytime you wake up laptop, you have to reconnect GPS by clicking tiny checkbox while driving @ 90 mi/h. Zoom shortcuts +/- don't work majority of time, until you click on map first - again at 90m/h
Overall Evaluation: Overall I was impressed by the ability to calculate speed and give me precise distance to next turn. I wish I didn't have to turn on GPS every time I close my laptop to hibernate, when laptop wakes up, it should automatically reconnect with GPS. The zoom shortcuts (+/-) should always be active, for some reason the map keep loosing focus and that's why zoom doesn't work. I have to click on the map first, which sometimes causes all kind of problems while I am driving. Also I wish they had route recording feature like Altas software. It records your GPS trail and then you can play it back in real time or fast forward motion. Helps me analyze my driving speed, where and when I stopped, time it took to drive, etc.

Strengths: The software is great. So much more functionality than regular in-dash car navigators. It was really easy to install. You can't beat the price either. I got it for less $100.
Weaknesses:I don't think the map is really up-to-date, and the POI's are not very complete. Not a problem in already developed areas though. Hard to use a laptop in the car.
Overall Evaluation: There is a nice review at http://www.navigadget.com/index.php/2006/06/26/review-of-microsoft-streets-and-trips-on-fujitsu-p7010/I checked it out before I bought it. I think the price will come down even more. You can use the software with other GPS receivers as well.

Strengths: Simple setup, easy to use, EULA allows main PC and remote copies.
Weaknesses:It doesn't make coffee.
Overall Evaluation: I got the thing loaded and running with the GPS tool in 15 minutes or so. The very first time I used the GPS to guide me to a destination it did so flawlessly. The audio instructions were surprisingly helpful telling you about upcoming curves and when to turn. I love the way it recalculates the route if you veer off course a little. And it is very fast. Type in an address (accurately) and the locations pop up within seconds. All said and done Streets & Trips 2006 with GPS did its job very well and I highly recommend it.
