    Duration of ownership: 3 Years

    Strengths: Performed consistently well in detecting malware.

    Weaknesses:Noticeable system degradation after installation.

    Overall Evaluation: Although Norton Internet Security 2006 is good in malware detection, its user interface is quite awful in providing too many alerts and taking up too much desktop space. I prefer to have a solid IS program running in the background without generating too many unnecessary alarms. In fact, NIS 2006 slowed down my system to a crawl in many occasions with its fanciful Norton Protection Center's messages. Its scan engine is certainly not optimized for fast performance. Comparing NIS 2006 to its competitors' products, it appears that Norton has missed the boat in this version of bloatware.

    Strengths: All in one package including Norton AntiVirus, Norton Personal Firewall, Norton AntiSpam, and Norton Parental Control

    Weaknesses:Bloated; resource hog.

    Overall Evaluation: After installation. NIS 2006 appeared to run just fine with around 25% of system resource utilization. But a couple months later, my PC system slow down to a crawl. Unlike Norton SystemWorks which improves your PC system performance by constantly cleaning up your system registry, NIS 2006 gradually makes your system unstable to the point of being unreliable since it intermittently freezes while scanning for virus and malware and Windows XP becomes very slow for booting and shutting down. Under these conditions NIS 2006 is certainly not ready for prime time for being an unrefined bloatware.

    Weaknesses:need update, out dated

    Overall Evaluation: it is very useful to me because it is actually a all-in-one product. It Protects computer from viruses hackersspywareand spam with comprehensive security. But it is out dated and need frequently update.
