    Weaknesses:hardware/software

Overall Evaluation: Long story short, IPOD was in storage never opened till about 2 months ago. Originally bought way back, but never used it, just sat in storage. So I decided to open it up one day, and after about 2 months of usage, the heard drive started clicking and the songs started freezing/skipping, itunes would not sync properly, basically everything was going downhill. I searched for a cure because when I booted up one time it said to sync to computer to restore??? So i tried this and it made it worse, same symptoms, only started getting slower. Fed up, I searched for a couple solutions online, and found the diagnostic tool, which says to hold the center and previous buttons down right after you reset, and I ran the diagnostic auto selection.1/8 test ran, and it gave me four failure codes!failure code 113 and failure code 114 failed 4 timesfailure code 131 and failure code 135 failed 1 timeSo, I do not know what exactly this means, since I searched no one has ansered these previious questions asked by another fellow ipod owner. So I called up apple and they setup and appointment to the apple store, after an hour wait time, they call me up only to tell me that the ipod is past warranty and thre was nothing they could do. i explained to them that even though it was pasted warranty it has only been used for a total of 16 hours, which the diagnostic tool let me see, but they didnt budge. WOW, 16 hours of use and ipod dies or is on the brink of dying.Well, this is the first and last apple product I am ever purchasing. So after this being said and done, since they didnt want to do anything about it, and try to charge me 150 for repairing it or knock off 10% for a new ipod (right) I just left the store, and when I returned home I decided to open the the stupid thing up. So, it's definately the hard rive made by Toshiba. I checked through toshiba's website and they are only giving 1yr manufactures warranty through their products which must be ran by the manufacture, in this case apple. wow what a load of crap. So, if you want a dead ipod in 16hrs or less, then you should definately buy one of these products. Sure it looks nice, but when you spend 200 bucks for a product, once might expect to get more than 1 days worth of usage dont you think?

Strengths: It is strong in that everyone of them i have bought is crap.

    Weaknesses:Everything

Overall Evaluation: I hate iPods and iPod service. I have had 5 iPods and each one of them has gone to crap. Two of them, the screen went out. One of them the volume controller would not respond to touch. One of them it would not take a charge. This one i have currently is my last iPod that i will buy. I have probly already wasted my money in investing in another one of these unreliable peaces of junk. Im not guna begin to start about Apple service. Sincerly, Jarkle Doorkus

Overall Evaluation: Very good. Had problems with Win XP identifying the iPod, but this seems to be a problem with the recent XP upadates breaking the working system. The updates for XP also trashed the rest of the usb identifications.

    Duration of ownership: 2 Months

Strengths: iTunes, Interface, Toyota compatibility, Video and Photo support

Weaknesses:iTunes, lack of flexibility, cost a bit higher than competition

Overall Evaluation: Let me first start of by stating that I never wanted an iPod and adamently refused to get one. The only reason I gave in is because I provide IT support and for many clients, this extends to their home setup. Ipods included. So I wanted to get a new MP3 player (my 512MB zen died) and figured the ipod was my best bet. Now that I have it, I love it. I've got music, photos and even a few movies on it. (Converted movies using cucosoft software). I listed iTunes as both a strength and weakness. The strength is that it's really easy to use and has some nice features for creating playlists. It's also a breeze to use with the ipod. I actually setup a playlist for my mom and sync'd hers with it without issue. iTunes is also a weakness however, because the ipod is really only user friendly when used with itunes (I'm not even sure you can get it to work with others). This is a drawback in my opinion as most other players out there can sync to anything (EXCEPT itunes). Still, it wouldn't keep me from getting another. The Toyota compatibility I mention is a bonus I wasn't expecting. There are a number of devices that allow you to use your ipod in a Toyota or Lexus vehicle. I have a prius and have my ipod tied into it, so I can see the songs and control things via the steering wheel controls. It's very cool! Overall, I'd definetely recommend an iPod. Just know that you will have to use iTunes and all syncing will be done with it.
