    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: integrated audio is surprisingly really good. runs cool and reliable.

Weaknesses:lack of a fifth pci slot below agp is a mixed blessing. bad if you need 5 pci cards but good if you dont since it keeps you from puting a card in the way of the airflow.

Overall Evaluation: overclocked a sempy t-bred 2500 to 2.0 GHZ without hastle.(thats a 300mhz jump. not huge but for the socket A i think its decent)the manual is horrible so hope you have a bit of experience

    Duration of ownership: 11 Months

Strengths: Cheap, easy to setup, lots of features for the money

    Weaknesses:Memory connections

Overall Evaluation: I own 3 of the MB's. The first 2 the installations were up and running no issues. One is still running no issues. I upgraded processors from 1600xp to 2800xp and faster memory on one machine and it's been downhill ever since. Went back to old memory, old processor, every combod I tried worked but gave periodic fatal blue screen errors. Bought a refurbed one, to send the bad one back. Same result. Turns out after much trial and error, the ram simm connectors are very tempermental. You can reseat when problem show up and run fine for a day or so, then errors start showing again. No more ECS MB's for me.

Strengths: SATA, 400MHZ FSB, LAN ABOVE ALL THE PRICE

Weaknesses:If you are into Brand names than ECS maybe out of the question but I haven't found any problems with this board.

Overall Evaluation: I have built two very price efficient(ok cheap) systems. I have chosen this board because it was practically free with the CPU/MOBO combo Fry's was having. I was really skeptical, because I am a brand name type of a guy, but these systems weren't for me and my customers needed as much for their money, so after looking at the features of this board, I decided it would be perfect. Well, to my surprise these boards have performed rock solid. Easiest install ever and perfect running conditions from the moment they were powered on. Come on, for the price I paid which was nothing, they were a great deal. I just saw this board at Outpost.com for $29.00 you can't beat that. So now I'm looking to build another system and going to be using this board again. Now, if you are a hardcore gamer, tweaker, overclocker, then I can't say much for this board, because I have not overclocked it or even moved it from its default BIOS setup. So I'll stick with my Gigabyte board for overclocking and tweaking.

Strengths: Easy Setup, Ability to Overclock Processor,RAID Configurations, SATA supported, USB 2.0, Auto Boot Detection.

    Weaknesses:Manual a little confusing.

Overall Evaluation: Excellent Performance for the price. Make sure DDR Ram rate is at the same speed as FSB for processor, or you will get a bottleneck. I am using a Sempron 2600 chip. You need to use 333MHZ DDR RAM, As a Sempron 2600 uses 333 MHZ FSB. What is confusing is J8 & J9. What the manual doesnt tell you is that the FSB speed is based on the frequency you set these jumpers for. If you set the frequency for these jumpers @ 166 MHZ, you are setting the FSB and RAM Speed @ 333MHZ, So if your RAM cant run @ 333 MHZ, then you need to lower the Frequency, which in turn slows your processor. I like the fact that the BIOS is setup to find a bootable device, even if you don't specify the booting order. I like the RAID configurations, the USB 2.0 & SATA Support. I like the system shutdown feature if the chip overheats due to overclocking. I haven't experienced any problems with LAN or the Audio. Although I have downloaded the latest Audio Driver from the ECS website (6/20/2005).

    Strengths: price, 3 dram slots

Weaknesses:not as reliable as other brand, socket A

Overall Evaluation: this socket A is perfect for those who wants low cost, but not upgradeable mainboard. while most boards at this price range will only get you about 2 slots of dram, thisone has 3. reliability may stop ppl from using this board. i had to have it exchange twice till i got a working board. performance wise, while it works, is as good as other brand; however, i will not buy ECS again
