Strengths: Port of first 3D Sonic game, still holds up well. The "speedy" classic Sonic parts are great fun.

Weaknesses:Graphics a bit dated, "adventure" portions tiresome

Overall Evaluation: Sonic Adventure DX is a port of the first 3D Sonic game created for the Sega Dreamcast console. Some minor tweaks have been applied for the Gamecube version, but it is basically the same game that came out in 1999. While the graphics are somewhat dated compared to newer games, the basic core play, at least during the fast parts, is enjoyable. And really, given how old the original title is, the graphics are still pretty good. However, like in Sonic Adventure 2, the "adventure" parts are a chore and really bog down the game. On the plus side, it contains the Chao minigame (virtual pet) also present in Sonic Adventure 2. This has always been an enjoyable bonus for my kids.

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: Old school Sonic platform fun

Weaknesses:May be too much of a retread for some

Overall Evaluation: If you kids liked the earlier games in the Sonic series, this one won't disappoint either. Therein lies its greatest weakness---I think it does little to improve upon or expand the franchise. Same wacky colorful graphics, same "run and grab stuff" gameplay. Still well-executed.

    Strengths: sonic

Weaknesses:camera, most of the other characters

Overall Evaluation: This game is nothing but a shallow port of a dreamcast launch of the same title sans "Director's cut" part. It is DX because it includes a couple of unlockable Game Gear game. If you have a dreamcast, play the better DC version. If you don't only buy for less than $10.

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: Its a good game, but its very dated. I felt like I was playing the origonal side scrolling sonic, then after a few hours, I really wish i was playing it, and not a re-hash of the dreamcast game.

Weaknesses:The graphics suck, really suck. The 3D enviorment is not handeled right, it feels like your a mouse running on a globe.

Overall Evaluation: You play one of six characters, each does his or her own thing, well sort of. The levels pretty much are the same for each character, but the characters are pretty different. This is only for hardcore sonic fans ,its not worth the money now anyways come on it was released on dreamcast and should have stayed there and not on the Game Cube not much to do after you beat the game either.
