Duration of ownership:
Strengths: size, weight and ergonomics
Weaknesses:does not have integral sd card for ease of downloading
Overall Evaluation: I find the product attractive, easy to use, and possesses amazing quality. I've used Sony in the past and their quality of images does no compare well with this product.. I would definitely recommend this product to others and I'm not considered an easy grader. I like the fact that I get sharper images than with pure digital cameras and I can utilize tape or convert to digital.

Strengths: Size & weight, video quality.
Weaknesses:Battery charging receptacle cover.
Overall Evaluation: The video quality of this little camera is awesome. It's very lightweight and compact so it's a dream to carry and use. The only thing I found fault with was the flimsy plastic charger plug receptacle cover which looks like it will break off quickly with regular use. Also, I recommend an external battery charger along with an extra battery if you anticipate heavy use. That way you won't have to rely on the camera to charge the battery as is required as it comes from the factory. For the price, you'd have a hard time coming up with a better Mini-DV camcorder.

Duration of ownership: 1 Months
Strengths: Small, lightweight, great price
Weaknesses:No light, Not great in low-light conditions, battery life
Overall Evaluation: A think this is a great camcorder for the price. It takes great video in regular light and daylight conditions. It sits very comfortably in my hand, and is very light and compact. The display in nice and easy to see. The controls are ok, but I recommend reading the manual to get a better understanding of all of the settings. As expected for this price range, the video is not so good in darker or nighttime conditions, but its not too bad. Overall, the video quality is good, and for the price, I think its hard to eat.

Strengths: Price
Weaknesses:Being entry level - limited features
Overall Evaluation: Highly recommended for entry level amateur like me. Mini size is excellent, fits in the palm of my hand. Paid $199. Definitely worth the money. This is the second or third JVC camcorder we own. They make quality products.
