Kingston 2GB Secure Digital Card

    Duration of ownership: 6 Months

    Strengths: Cost and reliability.

    Weaknesses:Speed.

Overall Evaluation: I'm considering a second for my point and shoot, non-critical work. I'd skip it for an SLR, or for any application where you will be emptying the in-camera memory cache regularly. If you regularly fill the in-camera memory buffer, then strongly consider a faster card.

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: Very good value, large capacity, reliable, lifetime warranty

    Weaknesses:Relatively slow transfer rate

Overall Evaluation: This card is clearly a value product, offering good features at a great price. You are likely to find this card at a variety of retailers at the top of the list if sorted by a low-to-high price for a given capacity. Also at 2GB this is a highest capacity that is supported by many older devices, those that don't support FAT32 formatted 4GB cards. Do note, however, that transfer rates are relatively low. If converted to x-rating, the card only has 33x (5MB/s) read speed, and a very uninspiring 10x (1.5MB/s) write speed rating, which is probably not adequate for some advanced digital cameras or for those needing to store large files. Other than this limitation, the card has been performing great in my HP Pocket PC and in Panasonic MiniDV camcorder (for occasional still shots). Just make sure you shop for the best price and know its speed limitations.

Strengths: Lots of space for such a low price. One of the best deals available.

Weaknesses:Slower read and write time compared to other models.

Overall Evaluation: You can't beat Kingston. Not only do they make high quality items, but the price is one of the best. I won't ever worry about running out of space with a this card.

Strengths: Huge storage capacity at low price

    Weaknesses:None found so far

Overall Evaluation: I bought this Kingston Technology 2GB Secure Digital Card at a Fry's store in SF Bay Area for $39.98 to replace a small card I've been using. I found this Kingston 2GB SD card stable and reliable. I used this Kingston standard SD card on my new Canon digital camera and it works great for me.
