    Strengths: It works. It's cheap.

    Weaknesses:Lousy documentation.

    Overall Evaluation: I didn't find installation as easy as some. Using WinXP Media Ctr Edition, I attached the cable to the printer cable, plugged in the USB connector, turned the printer on & booted. It refused to install - kept giving error messages "no driver found". The (undocumented) solution was to reboot with the printer turned off. Then the converter cable was recognised as a USB device and installed itself with no problem. Then I turned the printer on and it installed itself too. Everything seems to work fine now, but it was a frustrating waste of half a morning.

    Strengths: None

    Weaknesses:Everything - cable does not work; enclosed CD does not help either because it does not have drivers for this cable. This purchase was absolutely worthless.

    Overall Evaluation: Buyer beware. Do not purchase as you will just be wasting your money. This cable did not work and the CD it came with added no value because it did not contain drivers for this particular cable.

    Weaknesses:The Chinglish documentation is nearly incomprehensible.

    Overall Evaluation: One is always a little leery of product reviews on sites that depend on product sales and I must say I did not have the experience the previous reviewers had. The documentation is nearly unreadable. Beyond that, whether or not you're successful with this installation still depends a lot on your system setup. Mine, for example, insisted I was trying to set up a microphone. Support was non-existant. I described the situation to Sabrent and received a one line reply that the cable was not the problem! Thanks guys...

    Strengths: Works perfectly without any problem. Recognized the printer immediately.

    Weaknesses:It wasn't free

    Overall Evaluation: After I received the cable I opened the package and immediately plugged it into the parallel cable from my HP LaserJet printer and then into an open USB slot on my computer. Windows recognized the device immediately and installed it and I printed a test page and it worked perfectly. I then proceeded to print out a 34 page document and it printed with no problem at all and no distortion in the communication. Overall I think it's is a great product for those of us without a parallel port on our computers and a parallel printer. Highly recommended.

    Strengths: It installed on my home desktop pc and my laptop just as plug and play should do.

    Weaknesses:Not sure why documents from my desktop are halting in the middle of printing.

    Overall Evaluation: My new work laptop has no parallel port, so I could not print using my home HP deskjet printer. Found this product with good recommendations from others who rated it. It installed fine, but printing from my desktop sometimes halts in the middle of printing, but it prints ok if I go back to the std parallel cable. Took the same file to my laptop and used the USB converter and everything prints perfectly. Will experiment more with home desktop, but I can still use the parallel plug for that and at least it works perfectly for the laptop...which was the main reason I bought the converter in the first place.
