  Strengths: The converter does a great job to convert from a Sony camera onto a computer

  Weaknesses:The converter has a week export function onto a dvd recorder, the movies came out very unclear and does not look good.

  Overall Evaluation: I feel this product is not really doen really well, I feel there must be better products out there in order to convert analong video to digital

  Weaknesses:Dosen't work as advertised,constant crashes

  Overall Evaluation: I purchased this product and installed the hardware and software exactly as required.When I tried to re-boot after installation, their driver crashed my system so bad, I could'nt even get into Windows in safe mode.In the end I had to format my hard drive and re-install EVERYTHING including the Windows operating system. The number Plextor provides for support is a joke. I could NEVER get thru.I did reach support thru e-mail. They wanted to resolve my issue thru email,rather than thru a live call while I was actually sitting at my computer.As if I had 6 months to get this resolved. They were not helpful at all. Just for the record, I am running Win XP Pro, Athlon 3200 with 1 gig ram.I will now buy a Good capture card with editng software.

  Strengths: If you are looking for an easy-to-use reliable device, which comes with click-and-go software, this is the unit for you.

  Weaknesses:None

  Overall Evaluation: I purchased this device to convert my aging Hi8 tapes into a digital format. My goal was to find a device that will help me to perform the conversion with minimum headache. ConvertX PX-M402U does the job!

  Strengths: Installed very easily, although reaility did not quite follow instructions.

  Weaknesses:It was unclear what to do with the wires for the audio connection inside the computer.

  Overall Evaluation: Installation was easy enough once we figured out the instructions. The instructions should have been a bit more specific. The software for editing is only average and could benefit from a few additional features. I was surprised that I did not find drivers to install - perhaps I missed it. All in all, it seems like a pretty good deal.

  Weaknesses:Lack of power button/short cables (impractical)

  Overall Evaluation: It generally does what it was supposed to do, no frills. The strengths overshadow the weaknesses. I would have preferred a better match with other video software out there, the supplied one can be better. Other than that, easy to use, fairly intuitive.
