The Northridge E Series EC35 3-way center channel loudspeaker was custom-designed to superbly reproduce the human voice. Many movie soundtracks consist mainly of dialogue, so the center speaker shoulders the burden of filling a home theater. The EC35 easily handles the job. And it's video-shielded, so it can be placed on top of a television. The EC35 performs like a pro, with technology developed by JBL?s Professional division. Equipped with JBL's tried-and-true titanium-laminate tweeters and PolyPlas drivers, the speaker reproduces dialogue with extreme clarity. The lows and mids, efficiently boosted by a 3-inch midrange and dual 5-1/4-inch woofers, and assisted by the FreeFlow flared port, are loud and clear, without unwanted distortion or boominess. The Elliptical Oblate Spheroidal (EOS) waveguide ensures that every seat is the best in the house. Since the transducers were purpose-designed to work together harmoniously, JBL's simple Straight-Line Signal Path (SSP) crossover network divides the signal with minimal processing (and minimal opportunity to degrade the signal). Dual sets of sturdy gold-plated, 5-way binding posts enable bi-amping or bi-wiring. With the high, midrange and low frequencies isolated, the EC35's four transducers can reproduce their frequency ranges more efficiently and with greater accuracy. The computer-designed, lock-mitred cabinet virtually eliminates distortion, and its slim European profile won?t overpower your room.

Duration of ownership: 1 Months

Strengths: Looks great and appears to be built with high quality.

Weaknesses:Sound quality is too "tinny".

Overall Evaluation: I've been disappointed with the sound quality, although this may be more a function of my receiver (Denon AVR 1907) rather than the speaker. I know the speaker received high reviews, which is why I bought it in the first place.

Duration of ownership:

Strengths: Powerful, uncompromising nice looking speaker. Clarity beyond my expectation and great on music too. Best price ever.

Weaknesses:NONE

Overall Evaluation: Im a fan of Cambridge soundworks and Bose but this center can equal the MC500 of the cambridge but with cheaper investment and many times better over compare to the VSC10 of Bose. The materials that made up the EC35 are top class, the gold plated binding post BI-Wire and BI-Amp capability that you can find it on high end speakers no wonder JBL posted a selling price of over $300. Bought mine for $149 and was out of stock at ??? after a week. **** they are popular and they must be good, right? Maybe, 2 more to buy for my Left and Right speakers and my AM5 will go to my REARS. Believe me they are that good.

Duration of ownership:

Strengths: Full soundstage Plenty of power for mid sized home theaterExcellent price/performanceFinally vocals that are pretty clear and accurate

Weaknesses:Heavy/large

Overall Evaluation: This isnt the best sounding center channel i have ever heard but it is the best sounding for under $200 or possibly $300+ I finally had the money to upgrade from a 2way center to this speaker and what a difference. All of the dialogue was a little muffled and empty sounding before even when I upped the center channel. Now even with the center at default the vocals can all be heard clearly enough for me to not be frustrated as I was before. I dont think you could do better with anything else in this pricerange.

Strengths: Crisp and great price

Weaknesses:A Little on the big side

Overall Evaluation: All I can say is that if size doesn't matter, and quality does, get this center channel. Put it with 5 SP6C in-ceiling JBL speakers and an E150P subwoofer, DVD's come to life!

Duration of ownership: 7 Days

Strengths: A lot of performance for its price. Bi-wiring option. Very full sounding.

Weaknesses:This speaker is quite large so make sure you have the room for it. In addition, due to the rear ported design, placement might be an issue.

Overall Evaluation: This center feels very well crafted. I can finally hear all the subtleties in the dialogues of my DVD movies. All the voices sounded very natural and have a dimension to them.
