Driven by its 200MHz processor, the Lexmark C500n Color Laser Printer provides speeds of 31ppm in black and 8ppm in color with the first page out in 13 seconds (19 seconds color). Your documents and images will be sharp and brilliant with the C500n's 1200 x 600dpi resolution, giving them a professional look.The C500n is productive even in the most vigorous environments with its maximum duty cycle of 35,000 pages per month. With a standard input capacity of 250 sheets (expandable to 780) the C500n prints on a variety of media ranging in size up to 8.5" x 14" (legal). The printer also comes with 64MB of memory.The C500n features easy front-loading cartridges and top-loading supplies for simple maintenance. Its Toner Saver mode cuts cost of operation dramatically. The C500n is also designed to grow with your needs. Netowork-ready, you can add an additional paper trays and wirless capabilities.

The Lexmark C500n is the new baby in the company's family of networked color lasers. It's similar to the Lexmark C510n, C522n, and C524n models we've reviewed in the past, but it achieves a lower price of just $400 (as of 10/6/2006) by using a Windows GDI-based driver that renders pages on your PC. This lets Lexmark economize with a less powerful processor, less memory, and no licensing fees for PCL and PostScript. However, it still has a two-line LCD as part of its well-designed control panel, which competitors don't yet offer at this price. Lexmark also supplies drivers for the Mac, and the printer works with Lexmark's free MarkVision Professional, a good tool for managing a network of printers.
