    Duration of ownership: 18 Months

Strengths: Bluetooth, Text-to-speech, Ease of input

Weaknesses:Windshield mount is too fragile and finicky. Start-up could be quicker.

Overall Evaluation: Decent unit overall. The mount has just broken for the second time in about a year. I have also found the suction to be too poor to hold the unit when the windshield becomes too hot or two cold.

Strengths: The directions and way it tells you directions is very good. I like the adaptability of it.

Weaknesses:The speaker is very garbled and staticly and at times hard to understand. It lacks the capability of saving a route I have established vs the Nuvi route.

Overall Evaluation: Overall I think the Nuvi is a very good GPS although the sound problem should be corrected. The Nuvi gives you alerts of the turns and then again tells you when your turn is there. The function capability, restaurants, hotels, recreation areas, etc. are very helpful. I would recommend purchasing a Nuvi.

    Strengths: easy to input data

Weaknesses:can't see whole route, must drive it to see it.

Overall Evaluation: I live in area with several multi year road closures, Nuvi doesn't know about them, so I have to avoid them on my own and then let Nuvi recalibrate. About to take a cross country trip and afraid I may run into similar problems elsewhere.

Strengths: Large display, very accurate, different voice accent commands, plenty of POIs and other places in memory.

Weaknesses:Volume a little weak - could be louder, some roads are not programmed, mounting suction cup useless.

Overall Evaluation: Owned since early February 2008.A solid and worthy device, but not completely perfect. A good example is that at least you know which intersections is best to make that turn onto a busier street or avoid - the GPS does not seem to have a clue where a traffic signal is located. It sure knew where you can make U-turns. I have used a Megellan in a rental car and it pretty much did the same thing a year ago in Utah. The voice commands can me much louder. A great feature when you can hear the spoken words. When the windows are open or someone is talking inside the car, forget it. Thankfully the directions are on the top of the display, but the purpose is to keep the eyes on the road.Mounting suction cup, well, sucks. Buy the static dash mounting mat from either Garmin or another brand. I own the Garmin version and it is worth every penny.I put the 660 through the paces just recently in central Florida for Orlando and Titusville (Shuttle launch). The 660 was near perfect in location of restaurants, attractions and hotels. For some reason, some older public roads on Merritt Island could not be found on the map and it showed us driving on unpaved area - freaky. Although it got us to the hotel in Titusville, the 660 was not content unless you drove to where it considered the final point. 98.5% of the locations and directions were accurate and found the POIs and restaurants without a problem. The 660 holds a charge well, but the car charging cord for lengthy travel times of 2+ hours will be needed. Better to be prepared than sorry.Software and firmware updates can easily be done and is accomplished in a matter of minutes. The software had to be downloaded from Garmin's website (http://www8.garmin.com/products/webupdater/howtoinstall.jsp).Oh yeah, the accent commands. You can change these in the set up. Select the female Australian or female English accent to egg on your better half. The 660 is a great GPS. Not perfect, but I have not used another make that was perfect anyhow. After four months there have been no faults at all. It's portability, reliability and intuitive ease of use makes me give it five stars. Highly recommended. If it knew short cuts I would give it six stars.
