Strengths: Couldn't stand to try it long enough to find any.
Weaknesses:Lots of glitches.
Overall Evaluation: From the very beginning I've had problems with Elements 3.0. Problems include: - Continualing locking up during routine functions such as opening the help file. - Regististration window always opens even though I've registered this product 3 times already. - Cursor and text not visible when naming a new project. When I called Adobe for help, they said that this (brand new) serial number had already been registered to someone else, and they refused to give me support.

Strengths: This software is really amazing. You can do many different types of editing (basic or more involved). Great Help section. Fun to work with.
Weaknesses:Because the software does so many different things it was a little hard to get started with it. You have to allow at least 1 hour (learning) to load the first project you pull from a camcorder.
Overall Evaluation: This software is very powerful and is very fun to use once you learn how to use it. I am amazed at the number of different things they have included. I have two other software programs to do video editing of home movies and Adobe is by far the best. One of the best things is that the Help section of this software actually does help. If you get stuck on something you just click on the help menu, type in a word or two describing what you are doing and it pulls up all the possible articles that could help you out. Another great thing is that when I start the program up it has not yet ever frozen my computer....while the other two programs I own have done that quite a bit. I highly recommend this software.

Strengths: Lots of power & features
Weaknesses:Needs big monitor, speed
Overall Evaluation: I bought this program to edit my home movies as I had outgrown Windows Movie Maker. I found this program to be much more powerful and thus more complex and harder to learn than other movie making programs. But once you get the hang of Adobe Premiere 3.0 you can do things with it that you can't with other programs. I recommend a powerful machine and a large monitor 19 inches or better for use with this program.

Strengths: Powerful, feature rich, makes great DVDs, affordable
Weaknesses:Many features are hard to learn to use
Overall Evaluation: I bought Premiere Elements in the hope that it would be my all-in-one movie-making software. And it is! With Premier Elements I can import videos directly from my digital video camera (connected via firewire), do all of my video editing, add transitions between scenes, add titles and subtitles, add DVD-style menus, and burn it all to DVD. The software makes it pretty easy to lay out the video clips as you want, mark scene beginnings and endings, and trim the videos to contain only the desired footage. It can be a bit more difficult to work with audio and video transitions, special effects and overlays. There\\\'s a nice selection of pre-defined DVD menu styles, and you can create your own but you\\\'ll need companion software. Although I haven\\\'t yet tried to do so, I know that the software will also allow one to create slideshows as part of movies -- an added bonus for me. What I really like about Premier Elements is that I can do all these things that I want to do. However, it is complicated software and it does take time to learn. If you\\\'re looking for really easy to use out of the box software, this isn\\\'t it. But if you have the patience to take your time, and you have the aptitude to learn software programs, I think you\\\'ll find this to be a very good value.

Strengths: Easy to use, great features
Weaknesses:None noticed yet
Overall Evaluation: I still have a lot to learn about it, but everything I've used so far has been easy to use. I'm still working on my first video, so I'm excited to see all the features I'll be able to use. I like that you can make your own titles how you want them, and that you don't have to use some fixed template unless you want to.
