    Duration of ownership:

    Strengths: Brand quality

    Weaknesses:None so far

Overall Evaluation: You can not beat APC for their protection and reliability. This one for the price is a great buy! It DOES have phone line/dsl protection. I live in a rural area with brownouts and outages. I trust APCto protect my expensive investments. You really don't need the software if you run Windows XP or Vista. They both have the options in the control panel/power options to manage the shutdown when on battery.

    Duration of ownership:

    Strengths: Ample outlets, nice backup

    Weaknesses:Big and Heavy

Overall Evaluation: Nice protection for your expensive computer equipment. Has a vast number of outlets for your equipment. Protects equipment for power surges and allows you time to shutdown your computer in case of power outage. Item is bulky and very heavy be mindful of this if you plan to wall mount.

    Duration of ownership: 3 Months

Strengths: As long as you know its limits, it will do its job well. Keeps devices on so that you can shut them down safely.

Weaknesses:Low wattage--only has enough power to keep a computer/monitor/printer on for less than 5 minutes.

Overall Evaluation: The biggest thing to watch when it comes to power supplies is the needs of your system. If you have an entire home theater system or a computer with multiple peripherals, this device will have difficulty handling the load. This device does work well as intended, keeping low-power systems powered so that they can be powered down safely.

Strengths: Number of outlets, PC connectivity

Weaknesses:Big and heavy, annoying clicking noise

Overall Evaluation: My experience so far has been limited as I had no real power outages. I did test it by unplugging it from wall and it seemed to switch over smoothly. Compared it to my previous APC, this is much bigger and heavier, but it is better rated and comes with PC suite to safely shutdown the PC when unattended. My biggest gripe so far is the clicking noise (like a switch is being frequently turned on and off physically inside) which wasn't coming with my previous one. The sound is probably due to the UPS trying to keep the battery at full, but since it is connected to power, I wasn't really expecting it. For the price I paid after rebate (around $10), I would buy again, but wouldn't for anything close to MSRP.Update: One night recently, the UPS failed on me when I left my PC on overnight (I usually hibernate in the night). In the morning when I noticed that there was a continous sound coming from the UPC and the system was switched off. I decided to get an exchange and the new one doesn't have the clicking noise that I reported before. I think the UPS was defective in the first place which is the reason for both the clicking noise as well as the failure the other night.
