Strengths: Simply the most versatile laptop available. Beautiful screen. Elegant, head-turning design. Very fast. Generous standard RAM (2GB). The ability to live seamlessly in the Mac and Windows (even Linus) environments made the decision to buy a Mac a "no-brainer".

Weaknesses:Darn it! I'm still looking for one.

Overall Evaluation: Unfortunately, Vista demanded that I get a new laptop - so I did. This thing is like a swiss arny knife, there's hardly anything it can't seem do - and do well. The switch to Intel processors and the superioirty of OS X made it easy to leave Windows behind. When necessary I run Windows apps using Parallels and it's totally seamless especially with the new "Coherence" mode. I can do true multi-tasking without crashing or bogging down, OS X is so much more stable and productive than XP, there's no registry. The iLife software that comes with it is amazing, adds huge value to the package and is much better than anything from Dell, HP etc. With Leopard just around the corner, it's was a great time to switch and I'm glad I did. I could not be happier with this Laptop.

Strengths: wonderful screen, really liking Leopard

Weaknesses:Power cord often comes out with little pulling and is not the most convenient adapter

Overall Evaluation: The first MacBook I received was DOA. I read another person had this happen in the reviews and I refused to believe it could happen to me. It did! I worked for several hours the first night I had it troubleshooting, refusing to believe it. The next morning I got in touch with Apple, as MacMall said to do. Then Apple informed me it was a MacMall problem since it was dead out of the box. I called MacMall again and I was on hold and transferred from one person to another for about an hour. They offered to send someone to pick the computer up (4 days later) and have it looked at/repaired. I refused to be satisfied with a refurbished +$2000 brand new Mac Book Pro. I had to speak to a manager for an alternative. After emails and voicemail, he did return my call. He was extremely professional and compassionate to my situation. He overnighted another laptop to me and paid to overnight mine back to them. Upon receiving it, they had to check it out to ensure they could agree it was DOA before issuing my refund. They completed this in record time! I LOVE my new working Mac Book Pro! I will hesitate before dropping that much cash on something so iffy again. It was a lot of trouble, time and a ton of stress getting things straightened out, but MacMall eventually did make things right!

Overall Evaluation: Overall, this notebook is the best you can find out there in it's class. You may get better Graphics or storage with Alienware or other brands for the price but you will have to sacrifice size and weight which is the most important factor of a notebook/laptop...the portability.Other notebooks in this class are almost twice the thickness and are way more heavier. I would recommend this notebook for everyone.

Strengths: Lightweight. Very Thin. Good Features. Great Display. Firewire 800. Great Graphics Card. Built In Camera. Remote. Small powerbrick.

Weaknesses:Price ? Its expensive but any other laptop with similar features also fell in at this price but a few more pounds to carry around. Super Drive's max burn speed is 8x.

Overall Evaluation: First, the look. This laptop is thin, sleek, lightweight. I've owned several powerful HP laptops and they weight a lot more than this one. The power brick for the MBP is a lot smaller than the competitors ones so it adds up to a lot less weight you have to carry. The MBP does heat up but the battery always remains cool and I haven't had a problem with it so far. The Display is great, 1680 x 1050 and can run apple's 30" display concurrently. A nifty little thing I found was that all the Core2Duo MBPs ship with a wireless card that is capable of N broadcasting but it is set to b/g, If you go to apple's site you can download a small patch to have it go to the N standard. I've always been a windows user and found using a OS X very easy. I used a software called Parallels to install a VM Windows XP. We love this laptop. The only thing I didn't like was that the superdrive has a max burn speed of 8x. We normally burn DvDs at 16x so the extra 2:30 is a bit of a pain. Oh, upgrading the memory on the MBP is easier and a lot cheaper if you just do it yourself (instructions are included). We purchased a 2GB SODIMM for $165... apple wanted $575 more for the 3GB configuration.
