    Duration of ownership: 1 Days

    Strengths: Brand name, dependability, compact, ease of use, power of battery, 8 power connections-4 battery & 4 surge, price & 3 yr warranty. Protects coax, telephone and 10/100BASE-T connections too.

    Weaknesses:4 outlets battery backed up vs 5 for the new model - heavy at 15 lb & the box barely survived the trip due to the brown delivery truck guys, but it works great & no damage! No monitoring capability.

    Overall Evaluation: This is my first UPS but a welcome addition to combat those momentary outages that we have been having with all the rain in Texas this year. ....................You can buy this discontinued model (ES 725VA BE725BB)or the newer replacement model(ES 750VA BE750BB) for about twice the price. The only difference I see is that the newer one has one more set of plugs -- 10 vs 8 total and can use monitoring software to shutdown automatically. ....................My system at idle using a Kill-A-Watt Meter indicated 140-150 watts of power being used with my monitor, P-4 computer, cable modem, wireless router, speakers, small desk lamp and answering machine. When I unplugged the power at the wall the system stayed running for 24.02 minutes and went to a continuous beep at 21.3 minutes. I am so happy to have that long! ....................WindowsXP can not be setup in the Control Panel for Power Management and UPS option because this unit lacks the USB monitor plug. The newer model has a USB plug and is able to run software to shutdown your computer and is called PowerChute® Personal Edition software for WindowsXP or for Windows Vista. .................... Overall, a great product that I have needed for a long, long time. You can't go wrong with this APC battery backup and it has a great 2 year warranty. But, you had better hurry because once gone they will not be made again. ............... Update on 9-21-07 - I emailed APC Customer service with the following answers: 1. The Dell models do not have shutdown capabilities built in, and they cannot be added. I am sorry for any inconvenience...........2. The Equipment Protection Policy is Lifetime data recovery : $75000...........3. The DL725VT has a 3 year warranty.

    Duration of ownership: 2 Days

    Strengths: Battery length on flat panel tv's is exceptional. Battery length on pc's is more than enough to prevent loss of data.

    Weaknesses:none that I have seen

    Overall Evaluation: Primarily purchased to use on LCD, Plasma and Projection tv's. With the chance of a brown out on any power grid, it is very much recomended to use a UPS on all electronics. It will allow your product to last longer and on LCD projections tv's will save the bulb.
