Strengths: Variety of characters as well as choice of play (missions or hunting whether solo or in team, pvp zones, arena play), addition of new zones, special events
Weaknesses:Not always easy to solo with certain character builds
Overall Evaluation: Can usually find fun people to team with, but you can just do your own thing if you want. They've built in a black market (CoV) or store (CoH) to build special enhancements from salvage dropped by enemies. Players tend to be a little older than you usually find on online games, and most are willing to help. Players often add in their own games, such as costume contests or hide-and-go-seek for prizes. You can play hard-core, or be a casual player, and still enjoy the game.

Strengths: Unique theme, endless character customization, great community, sidekick/exemplar feature.
Weaknesses:Graphics are dated, not very solo-friendly.
Overall Evaluation: City of Heroes appealed to me because I was tired of the typical fantasy-based MMORPGs. At first impression, it seemed a bit juvenile to pretend to be a spandex-clad superhero, but the simple-yet-fun gameplay easily draws you in. There isn't a lot of loot to find, and the combat can be repetitious at times, but COH's easy-to-approach play style is further heightened thanks to its sidekick/exemplar feature. If you want to group with someone who's stronger than you, the sidekick feature allows you to be almost as strong as your teammate; the exemplar feature lowers your partner's level to your's. This is a great feature for those who play irregularly, and allows players to keep up with their friends. The penalty for dying is a bit more harsh than most players would like; if you die, your XP gains are effectively halved until you can clear "debt". Debt occurs on your experience bar, and half of your XP gains will go to clearing it. For example, if an enemy you defeat normally gives you 100 XP, half of it will go to leveling your character as normal, and the other half clears away the debt so that you can gain XP normally again.I've played quite a few MMO's, but COH is the only one I come back to - it has such a great community. The players are mature and helpful, unlike some players of profanity-laden games. Often, you'll log in just to chat with fellow players. The only downside to this is that some people actually talk too much, and you'll never get a mission done. Missions take time to start up and finish, even without fooling around.Players looking for PvP should look elsewhere, as this game only designates a handful of areas for PvP (and player killing is impossible).

Strengths: A unique theme of MMORPG, No need to worry about rare equipment, lots of character options, can be a more suited to more casual MMORPG players
Weaknesses:Lacks complexities that more traditional MMORPG players are used to (ie. rare item drops, crafting, big player economy), A monthly fee type game isn't for everyone.
Overall Evaluation: This is a game where you play as Superheroes. I got into this after all my friends quit for WOW, but I'm still having a good time. Because there is no really rare items, and it is fairly easy to progress, I figured this would be a good game to play until I go back to school. (I won't feel so torn dropping it for a bit.) There are tons of options to make your character, and I found it easy to get together an appropriate power set for my character. There are items to improve your skills in game, but these are not particularly rare. As you go along, you can get some cool powers, even the ability to fly. The best part is that you get many slots for characters, so feel free to experiment. Missions are usually of the kill stuff and dungeon crawl variety, not all that diffrent from other MMORPGs. If you do well with tangible goals in mind, you may want collect badges. The hardcore may want to do a Task Force. I did one the other day; it was long, but boy did I see some cool stuff! To finish, City of Heroes is pretty cool!
