Strengths: Can play both Blu Ray and HD DVD disks in 1080p as well as upconvert Std DVD to 1080i.
Weaknesses:Incompatible with some 1080p TVs and menuing on HD DVDs is not true.
Overall Evaluation: As of the writing of this (01/03/08) the price has fallen from the original $1200 to $600, which is why I did not include price as a weakness. It is great to own this "hybrid" which will play both HD formats, but there are problems with it. First, it will play at full 1080p resolution on most TVs that accept 1080p but not all. For example, the Sharp LC52D92U will only accept input from this unit at 1080i. Secondly, LG has chosen to lay over its own software menu navigation system for HD-DVDs, rather than accessing the direct menus on the HD-DVDs. This means that although most of the common features on HD-DVDs, such as commentaries, deleted scenes, or added documentaries may be accessible via LG's menu system, more sophisticated interactive and internet features may not be. For this reason, LG cannot use the official HD-DVD symbol on the BH100.

Strengths: Great picture and sound for HD DVD and Blu-ray.
Weaknesses:none
Overall Evaluation: I connected my unit to my Denon AVR 4306 and tested it with both HD DVD and Blu-ray. The player was flawless. It made me run out to the store to buy as many different titles as possible. I am happy I waited for a combo hit the market. Now I have the best of both worlds!
