Duration of ownership: 6 Months
Strengths: 64-bit compatible, dual-core, inexpensive.
Weaknesses:Multiplier locked at 10x, overclocking takes some effort, 90nm, Socket 939 is out-dated now.
Overall Evaluation: Overall, this is a very good entry level CPU for those looking for a dual-core processor with a tight budget. It's slowest X2 model available for Socket 939 boards. Performance is good at 2.0Ghz and has the potential to be overclocked by raising FSB beyond 200Mhz, though not much. You can usually overclock it to 2.4~2.6Ghz (equivalent to 4600+~5000+). If you have a Socket 939 compatible system and need an upgrade to dual-core, this is the bottom line. Otherwise, go with Socket AM2 for more choices and even lower cost.

Strengths: Low cost, energy efficient, 64bit compatible.
Weaknesses:Needs some experience with overclocking to maximize value.
Overall Evaluation: Dual core allows you to multitask better. For a typical person who simultaneously runs a word processor, Outlook, internet browser, antivirus, photoshop, music player and a number of background processes, a dual core will help speed things up a lot. This is the cheapest Athlon X2 to purchase. It is locked at 10x multiplier at 200mhz base fsb. Depending on your motherboard, you can easily push up your base fsb to run this chip at 2.5ghz, giving you a better performance than that of a 4800+ version! You can also run winxp 64bit on this chip. Useful for servers where tons of RAM is needed. My chip temperatures for 2.5ghz are at 40C on idle, 58C max. Pretty decent. Great value!
