Overall Evaluation: have been using the Q1 ultra for about a week now. It's fairly light, but it is too big to put into a pocket. With that said I couldn't imagine using a pda, or the 5" Sony UMPC or OQO (unless it was on a docking station) to surf the internet. I haven't done any tweaking except removing McAfee virus software. The good things:It finally has a keyboardHigh resolution screen which is very bright and looks good. Two built in speakers work ok.Bluetooth works flawlessly. Connected via bluetooth and cable to my Motorola RAZR V3M via Sprint.Refined design.Comes with a special USB cable that allows you transfer files between computers.Instructions show you how to use a dvd/cr drive on another computer to install programs.Runs my apps well so far, including Microsoft Money and Office 2007.Internet surfing is better than I expected.Lots of ways to input text via physical keyboard, samsung graphic keyboard, Vista graphic keyboard.Pre-Programable cursor keys make scrolling websites a breeze.Built in ethernet port.Sound quality from headphone port is surprising very good. Two USB ports, one SD port. Can be put into sleep mode by pressing power button. Can turn off screen via menu button to save juice.Boot time not too bad for 800 mhz.85 hertz refresh in 800 by 600 resolution.Things I don't like:System would not recognize by Linksys router network unless I enabled "Wireless SSID Broadcast" on the router.Cameras seem cheap (haven't used it much yet though).Keyboard is too small (constantly shifting eyes back and forth to find keys). The placement of keys is somewhat arbitrary. placed)Takes a while to install apps. Hard drive could be faster.Samsung could have sprung for 2 gigs of ram.System automatically uses 10 gigs of HD to back up Vista.Standard battery life is ok but not as advertised.Pointer does not always sync exactly to place I press the pointer on. You can calibrate the screen, but not perfect.Mouse could be better.800 mhz is a bit too slow for a device costing $1,200.Multimedia is disappointing. It will play video but not at full frame rate.No HDMI port.Max of 60 hertz refresh rate in 1024 by 600 resolution even if you connect it to an external monitor. No illuminated keyboard.Vol buttons and menu butttons are too close together and not illuminated. Constantly hitting wrong key.Seems like you have to put on cap locks to press a number...Annoying.Overall it met my expectations, running internet explorer well and a couple of apps. It's nice to install real software instead of having to run mobile apps on a pda. I like the unit because it doesn't require you to flip open the display like a laptop and sit down and position yourself to use it. Potential purchasers may want to consider a 12" compact laptop or the OQO model 2 if price isn't an issue and you need something more powerful. There is also a cheaper version of the Q1 Ultra w/o cameras a 40 gb HD instead, and w/o a SD reader which I could live w/o anyway
