  Duration of ownership: 2 Months

  Strengths: Increases desktop work space. Easy to install with my old destop PC.

  Weaknesses:I can only get 16 bit color resolution instead of 32 bit. Also was not easy to set up with my laptop, a P-4 3.06 ghz Toshiba. I think if I really wanted to get it to work, I could.

  Overall Evaluation: My PC is ancient, circa 1999: It's P-3 550 mhz, and I was using two video cards, each with its own monitor, for a total of 2 monitors. Adding the Matrox unit to one video card allows me to use 3 monitors with one card and a fourth monitor with the second video card. So I went from 2 to 4 monitors, and had no trouble getting the Matrox unit to work. I've had it about 2 months and it's a terrific unit. Sometimes there are problems which need to be tweaked, (some software does weird things to resize the desktop, but that's usually easily enough fixed). I think this is a great product and will probably get another one so I can use 6 monitors altogether. My goal is to have 9 screens eventually like I saw on display at the Microsoft campus in Redmond. I love being able to work on a Word document on one screen and have 3 other Explorer windows open for research and surfing, and to be able to watch all four screens at once. My old P-3 550 mhz processor actually manages to do all the processing needed to display everything without overtaxing the system too much. I realize that this is also dependent upon the quality of the video cards being used, but overall, I'm very pleased. This is the only product in its class that I could find that is reasonably priced for what it does. I love it! I think the fact that it's external to the PC may also cut down on internal heat, which I like to keep away from the processor as much as possible. Yes, it would be nice to have it inside the box, but it's hidden nicely.

  Overall Evaluation: I did all the right stuff (powerful graphics card, fast processor, three new identical monitors, etc.), but it still took a call to Matrox to get things working. The documentation that ships with the device is essentially useless. For instance, it doesn't make it clear when, exactly, they want you to install their software. Given that it's a USB device, and Windows' propensity to get picky about this, you feel like you're on your own and hoping for the best. Turns out that wasn't as important as finding out about a firmware upgrade that I found to be essential on my brand new Core2Duo machine. Apparently, the TripleHead2Go as it was shipped to me, didn't have this upgrade. Without it, one, and sometimes two, of my monitors would not get a signal passed through the box. Something to do with the power-on USB sequencing. Once I got the update over email from Matrox, it's been working fine. Chalk it up to early-adopter syndrome. Matrox product support did seem to care, and it wasn't too difficult to get an actual person on the phone. I think it's a great product with a lot of market potential. All Matrox has to do is improve their installation manual and it would be perfect.

  Strengths: Easy to use, software is simple to configure, and well worth the price.

  Weaknesses:Price is still a little high but not unreasonable for what you get.

  Overall Evaluation: This is a great product. I used to use the Analog edition and just recently upgraded to this digital edition. Since I'm a little bit of a multi-tasker, I enjoy working on several things at once but I am also a pilot who uses three screens to simulate a plane setting. That's the primary reason I purchased this item and combined with three monitors I have the ultimate desktop. So if you're looking to multi-task, you need one of things and if you're a pilot then you definitely need one of these things for training!

  Overall Evaluation: if you are looking to connect up to 3 monitors and have picture cross over to all free this is the product to use. it offers both, analog and digital in port but only digital out port you can also use new laptops with HDMI port and HDMI to DVI converters to connect to it
