    Duration of ownership: 3 Weeks

    Strengths: Picture Quality although not the best I've seen is acceptable for an LCD TV of this size. Sound is also acceptable. The menu is easy to navigate.

    Weaknesses:Reliability. DVD player does not resume. Channel setup is quirky, given that you have to scroll through all the channels one by one to select/deselect.

    Overall Evaluation: I bought a SK-26H590D refurbished from Buy.com on 11/29/08. I used it for a week, and then the TV display became garbled and the TV wouldn't respond to any buttons. I had to unplug it. I tried it again and it worked for 4 minutes and then the same thing happened. So, I called Westinghouse support, and they said I would have to send the unit back *at my expense*. It took two months to get a replacement TV. On the plus side, the unit they sent is a SK-32H590D (I assume because they didn't have any 26 inch refurbished sets available). Now I noticed that the DVD player doesn't resume. According to the user's manual, when the stop button is pressed once, and then the play button is pressed, the DVD player will resume. This does not happen. The manual also states that if the stop button is pressed twice, the resume point will clear. Westinghouse support cannot help

    Strengths: easy set up ; includes dvd player ; good remote ; no need for expensive extra cord ; good picture ; number of inputs good ; good manual ; nice looking ; sound good ; great for price paid

    Weaknesses:closed caption and mute use interfere with each other ; no way to tell how much time left on dvd player when viewing dvd ;

    Overall Evaluation: we actually returned another similar tv made by another manufacturer because we hated it so much, their manual was horrible, the setup was terrible, the sensor was too far to the right, making it impossible for remote to reach from certain areas of the room. but this tv was easy to setup, sensor in middle of tv, better price, dvd included is very nice to have. we like this tv a lot and won't be returning this tv

    Duration of ownership:

    Strengths: Built-in HD tuner and DVD player

    Weaknesses:Remote, occasional hum?

    Overall Evaluation: Great bargain for what I paid ($540 out the door) and perfect size for use in the bedroom. High-def channels look very good, but as with most HDTV's, the standard-def channels are so-so at best. Menus are easy to navigate. Gripes - the remote has to be pointed *directly* at the set to operate (easy fix - my programmable universal remote works like a charm), and I'm hearing a noticeable hum from the back of the TV now and again. Debating on whether to take it back for exchange to see if another set does the same thingOverall, wouldn't pay more than around $650-700 for it. Good value set, just don't expect to compare it to Toshiba/Samsung/Sharp sets.

    Strengths: Front loading DVD player, color settings great right out-of-the box, lots of inputs, Picks up digital channels,1080i and 720p great for watching TV or gaming, space saver

    Weaknesses:Random freezes which lock up the unit, remote leaves more to be desired

    Overall Evaluation: First of all this is my first LCD TV set. I'll start with the positive. The set worked right out of the box, setup was a breeze. Being able to pop in a DVD without a separate DVD player is a space-saver. The colors were nice looking without any adjustment whatsoever. Since we don't subscribe to digital cable or a dish network, it's nice to pick up some over-the-air HD channels, which look great. Gaming looks bright and vivid, no complaints there. The set even recognizes a new input and switches to it (auto-sourcing.) Now for the negative. I noticed the set would randomly freeze. I haven't figured out the cause of this and no it's not because I lose the signal. The set becomes totally unresponsive. The only solution to this is to hold the power button on the side of the unit, until it resets. With the remote, I feel like I have to point directly at the unit. With my older television sets I could point up, down, sideways, etc and still get a response. While I am generally impressed with the unit (switching from an old tube tv to an LCD,) the freezing is unforgivable. It doesn't happen often, but when it does it's a disappointment. Now comparing this set to the others, I've also noticed that you get "truer" blacks with other sets. EDIT: No more freezing (I heard this may be a grounding issue [I did relocate the unit.]) One concern may be the backlight set on 50 (the highest setting) which may curtail the life of the unit and consequential "humming" by lowering that setting. Bumped the rating up to 3 stars, still satisfied.
