    Duration of ownership:

    Strengths: None

Weaknesses:Will not setup to run all the time. It may run at first then quits all together. Requires a complete setup to run once! Wiring in house, not the problem. Never got it to run more than one computer.

Overall Evaluation: Netgear Tech support was of NO help. Sounded foreign and with no knowledge of the unit. Appeared to be reading a script that had little to do with the problem. I finally got the unit to reboot to factory defaults on my own. Confusing Manual even for me and I am a Computer Tech!!!

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: Once set up, works flawlessly.

Weaknesses:Difficult to configure due to slow configuration response.

Overall Evaluation: Works fine out of the box in an unsecured mode.I would have given five stars but configuration was a pain and I don't think a novice would do anything but leave it unsecured. Setup is through an embedded web server which is nice but the response is slow enough both IE and Firefox will assume the "server" is dead. Use Opera (opera.com) and some patience to get around problem. When doing the configuration it helps to have ready access to your router and the remote access point at the same time. I recommend getting it configured by plugging both units into the same room and then moving the access point after everything is set up the way you want.Security includes MAC filtering and WEP but nothing stronger so it isn't going to be a problem for the NSA but should do a good job of keeping the neighbors out.Running through my wiring it achieves about 8 megabits per second which certainly is not a speed record but does provide a rock solid connection. As performance wasn't as important to me as reliability, I'm very happy with the solution.

    Duration of ownership: 32 Days

Strengths: Ease of installation. Dramatic increase in signal strength.

    Weaknesses:None for me!

Overall Evaluation: Excellent product. Using more in the home and they work very well. This unit also allows no extra charges for "hardwired" computers from our ISP. I plan to use more (if I can) in other rooms in the home.

Strengths: This product simplifies your life since you can quickly deliver ethernet connectivity in any room without having to run network cables.

Weaknesses:I would like to see an option of connecting an actual high gain antenna for outdoor applications.

Overall Evaluation: This was very easy to setup, change and have it join my existing network without a hitch. Nice job Netgear! If you don't understand the concept of an Ethernet bridge, the setup and operation may seem a little strange to you, but it works as intended.

    Duration of ownership: 8 Months

Strengths: Small form factor, zero wires required to hook up the access point (you do need an ethernet cable running to the Powerline Adapter).

Weaknesses:Issues setting up the WEP encryption. Wireless coverage is not as great as the standard Netgear Access Point.

Overall Evaluation: The biggest issue I had with this product was setting up the encryption. I have an additional standard Netgear Wireless Access Point, and I set up WEP encryption with no issues. However, I could never access the settings of this Access Point. At first, using the product turned my secure network into an open network (since I couldn't configure the encryption in this Access Point). I never was able to access the Access Point setup, but now my network IS secure. I have no idea how it happened, although I did reset this Access Point several times during my configuration process. Perhaps I just got a less-than-fully functional unit. However, it works for me now as I intended, although I still can't figure out how I did it.
