    Duration of ownership: 2 Months

Strengths: Small, includes many standard features

Weaknesses:Has minimal memory and hard drive compared to what's out there

Overall Evaluation: This is a good, relatively inexpensive introduction into the world of MACs. I am using this for both work and play, learning the ins and outs of the newer MAC OS. As a pure Windows guy for years, I've wanted a newer MAC to play with for a while. With the release of Leopard, I figured now was the time. I did own a MAC back in 1999, I think it was a G4. I liked it, but not enough to move permanently away from Windows PCs. I like that there's a lot of basic features built in, such as bluetooth and wireless internet. There's also plenty of USB ports as well as a firewire port. I've heard it could be a pain upgrading anything on this thing. I'd like to upgrade the memory so I hope it's easy. On my old G4, it was quite easy to pop in upgrades with the snap open cases they came with. I didn't feel like paying thousands of dollars for a MAC (don't need a monitor or laptop) so I settled on this mini. I hope Apple continues this line of "mini" computers and offers more systems.

    Strengths: The Mac OSX.

Weaknesses:Only holds 2GB of memory and came with a 5400 RPM hard drive.Problem with slow Internet loading after upgrading to Leopard. The price is also high compared to PCs.

Overall Evaluation: I finally got my first Mac after using Windows PC for more than I can remember. It is a 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Mac Mini. I also bought an HP W2007 20" LCD screen to go with it. The Mini came well packaged in its little box with a handle, a very well first impression. It came with Mac OSX 10.4 Tiger installed, but it did came with a OSX 10.5 Leopard upgrade DVD. I immediately upgraded it to 10.5 Leopard, because that is what I was waiting for. It took a long time to upgrade, about 1 hour and 30 minutes. After the upgrade, everything was all great just like Windows expect that it feels faster, smoother, and more organized. Things are easy to find and setup. I don't really have anything bad to say about it at first. But, after surfing the web for a while, I noticed that it takes a long time for the page to load and sometime it timeout itself. This happen whether connected to the Internet wirelessly or wired, and the worst thing is that my other Windows PCs have not problems with the Internet at all. On the next day, the Mini was fine when I started using it but same problem happen again after I used it for awhile and that my PCs have no problems at all. I checked the web using my Windows PC in hope to find answers. It seems that I was not along. A lot of people is having the same problem after upgrading to Leopard. They are either looking for solution or waiting and hoping that Apple's next update will fix the problem. Well, too bad for Apple, my first visual impression was good, but the first using/operating impression, which is most important was not so good. My brother told me to change back to Tiger and upgrade later only after Apple came out with an update and that people have reported the problem fixed.
