Strengths: Big.
Weaknesses:Slow and non-intuitive.
Overall Evaluation: It is big (as in capacity) - 2TB in all, 1TB if mirrored. But performance is nowhere near what the Gb port would lead you to believe. If you need a place to reliably store your files, photos, videos, etc., then this will do the trick at a great price. But if you're looking for a performance NAS box, buy something else that costs 2x as much. The software is non-intuitive and unnecessary. I used the web interface to reformat the box for RAID1 (mirrored) and to set up a share and a user account. Then I just mount the share like any other network share in Windows. I also activated the ssh daemon so that I can ssh and scp into the box from anywhere - no need for subscription-based filesharing software, really. The thing I like most is that this little box sits happily on my desk, never crashes, does as it's told, and doesn't care how often I'm rebooting my Windows PC's. It is a great, cheap, low-performance alternative to setting up a PC as a dedicated fileserver, so long as you know what you're doing (e.g., if you don't know what NAS stands for or how to pronounce Linux, and you think a "hack" is a poor stand-up comedian, then this box is not for you).

Strengths: Insane storage space. Raid capability. Easy setup on Windows XP 32bit.
Weaknesses:Could not install MioNet on Windows XP 64bit.
Overall Evaluation: I love this device. My very first NAS and loving it. Been using this unit for around 1 week trying to backup my musics and photos. I setup My Book in Raid 1 mode. Make sure you give yourself around 20-30 minutes for the unit to format itself for Raid. Otherwise, if you leave the unit preformat the way it came, it will be an easy quick setup with an insane amount of storage space. Transfer speed is bearable in my opinion. I setup My Book over a true GigE Router DLink DIR-655 with the included CAT5 cable from My Book (will upgrade to a CAT6 cable soon to see it makes any difference in transfer speed). It takes me around 15-20 minutes to transfer 4-6GB of data. At least that's what displayed on my screen but it seems to be faster than that. I haven't test my connection via offsite location yet so I can't make any comments on that but wireless connection seems to work great with no noticeable dropped in transfer rate. MioNet does not work with 64bit Windows XP. Can't comment on Vista since my notebook is with the Manufacturer for warranty repair; thus can't test on Vista yet. I could recognize the drive via My Network places on my 64bit Windows XP computer but for some strange reason I could not write to the drive even though I'd logged on as Admin. I will have to figure this out once I have time. The buttons on MY Book is great and indicative of the state the drive is in. A little bright but for a blind person like me it helps letting me know when the unit is in use by other user in my house (or offsite once I setup that up) at a quick glance. Noise level is very minimal to not noticeable. That is my computer runs louder so I can't hear it :). Still need time to customize my new toy to my liking but so far so good. Like a kid with his new toy(giddy).
