  Weaknesses:Poor quality and NO durability, did not do what it was billed as being capable of doing

  Overall Evaluation: This unit is absolutely unsatisfactory. Right out of the box the Ilink cable connection would not transfer the sound without it being garbled. Several calls and many hours later SONY WAS OF NO HELP. Save your money and put it towards professional transfer to DVD

  Strengths: Plays Dig8, Hi8, Video8, LCD screen for portable use

  Weaknesses:Poor durability... less than a camcorder.

  Overall Evaluation: Bought this unit to convert 20 years (200) Video8, Hi8 and Dig8 home movies to DVD. After only dubbing twenty or so Video8 tapes, unit failed. After 1hr20m of continuous play Video8, video decomposes to blue screen, audio okay. Tape is good, player is bad. Also have EVS-550 that Sony cannot repair. To me, my home movies are priceless. To them, useless. Sony has left us 8mm people out in the cold.
