    Duration of ownership: 1 Weeks

Strengths: 6.5fps brust shoot, Good image quality on high ISO, Fast focusing, less noisy & better build than 400D, 60 shot buffer for brust shot

Weaknesses:Shot buffer drop to only 6 when using the "noise reduction" functon. 10.1 Megapixel (the same with their low end cameras), auto iso is not a good as competitor models

Overall Evaluation: I use to own 400D for almost a year when i decide to go for a more professional x0D series. Overall, it is a very worth while upgrade. The 40Ds menu has a lot more professional features than 400D has. In 40D you can adjust the flash (both internal and external) intensity which allow me to take a much natural colour shot even when i use the external flash (in 400D using external flash is often resulted in a shot that is just too white and un-natural). The noise reduction is also usefull, it iliminate the snowy coloured pixel almost competely but it also reduce your brust shot capability by 10x. The iso 3200 image quality is also much better than 30D or even compared to 400Ds iso 1600.

    Duration of ownership: 4 Months

Strengths: High picture quality. Wide choice of lens and accessories. Speed and versatility.

Weaknesses:Me! Can get a little heavy.

Overall Evaluation: A truly wonderful camera and pleasure to use.I moved from a point-n-shoot camera to a digital SLR and spent many months deciding between Canon, Nikon and others. In the end I went for the Canon EOS 40D for its: Live View mode, 3" screen, positive reviews, wide selection of lens, iso range, image quality, time to first photo speed, body quality and great value. There are many features in this camera so I also bought the book: Canon EOS 40D by David D Busch. You never stop learning.Next for the real costs - the lens, and there are many to choose from. Being an amateur I bought: EF 17-40MM f/4L, EF 85MM f1.8 and EF-S 55-250mm. For macro work I have the Canon extension tube EF12 II.Photo quality is superb even when using the built-in flash. It's now up to me to take good pictures and one book I found invaluable is titled: The Photographer's Eye by Michael Freeman - simply excellent! I purchased many more books as this camera greatly extends your opportunities for phenomenal photo taking. It all fits nicely in my Lowepro Slingshopt 200AW.

    Duration of ownership: 4 Months

Strengths: Versatility, value for the dollar, professional results.

    Weaknesses:Can't think of any.

Overall Evaluation: I have been using the 10D since the beginning and finally decided to upgrade to the 40D. I paid less for the 40D and now have so many enhancements that I can't even begin to list. I have been 110% happy with the results, and can't wait to pick up the camera and just start snapping away. Whether I am point and shooting or digging into some of the more advanced controls...it's a blast. Everything on this camera is better, faster, easier, more intuitive,

    Duration of ownership: 2 Months

Strengths: Large LCD Screen, Two Control Dials, and Seems to Focus Faster

    Weaknesses:Can't find any

Overall Evaluation: I was so excited to hear Canon was releasing the 40D. Prior to purchasing the 40D, I owned a Canon Rebel. I must say I have no regrets in purchasing the new 40D. It is a bit larger than the Rebel which makes it more comfortable to hold. It is very responsive, which I need in order to capture my sports photos. It seems to focus faster. I just love the size of the LCD. It makes reading the all the options so easy. To sum it up this camera takes great pictures.
