Overall Evaluation: I'm a first time digital camera user, and I find sections of the instructions hard to understand. However, even though I'm a novice, I've found it rather easy to figure out the main functions I need to begin with. I've been having a blast taking pictures of everything and the video mode is great.....crystal clear, and the audio is flawless! I look forward to learning the manual settings so I can do more with it besides point and shoot. I didn't buy rechargeable batteries and that was a HUGE mistake. I can't believe how fast it drains them even when simply taking still photo's. It looks like I'll be spending quite a bit more money than I intended, because I need to buy a battery charger and of course batteries to go with it, a camera case, and I also need to get the AC adapter, not to mention I bought a memory card when I purchased the camera. Not complaining as much as I simply want to make first time users aware of these extras. I don't regret buying it in the least. I did a ton of research on camera's in my price range before making my decision and I'm convinced I chose the right one!

Strengths: Excellent detail pictures, excellent zoom, easy to operate.
Weaknesses:The biggest weakness is the time it takes to recycle the flash.
Overall Evaluation: I have taken pictures indoor at a dance recital with no flash that turned out good. You can also set this camera to night scene to get brighter pictures in dark situations. The batteries have lasted for over two hundred pictures.Longer zoom pictures require a tripod to get better results. I have had four Canon cameras and they were all very good. Thanks Beach Camera for your excellent Website and fast delivery.Consumer Reports also rates this as a Best Buy. Negative comments should not be made unless you have read the manuel and follow directions.

Duration of ownership: 4 Months
Strengths: It offers great manual controls that are easier to use than any other camera below the DSLR level. Shutter speed and aperture are limited, but you get enough freedom to control depth of field
Weaknesses:Regular AA batteries get drained pretty fast ... Need rechargeables.
Overall Evaluation: I've take over 200 photos and a couple of movies. This camera is great for some one like me who wants the point and shoot options and settings but still likes to dabble in the manual world and play with doing it myself. The face recognition/ picture centering feature and the image stablization is great and allows you to capture images with out blurring. The aquarium pictures I took were amazing, with very clear detail and perfect lighting.

Duration of ownership:
Strengths: FULL-FEATURED for a power user, latest DIGIC III processor, compact
Weaknesses:1-2 second lagtimes, sensor noise is noticeable for ISO 400 and above, plastic body
Overall Evaluation: After using an older model digital for three or four years, I finally decided to move up a notch. I did a lot of research online and settled on this Canon. It is wonderful! There are so many things it can do that I will never be able to remember them all, but for what I want -- a camera that will take good, sharp photos -- it is perfect. Price was good, delivery prompt, a good deal!

Duration of ownership:
Strengths: Compact and light weight
Weaknesses:Slow focus, Abysmal performance in low light, Don't use Alkaline Batteries
Overall Evaluation: Compact in Size and light weight for the specifications. But the camera is not that great. The performance from shot to shot is very bad, takes longer than regular similar cameras(probably due to only 2 AA batteries). The low light performance is also bad due to failure in auto focus. Overall not really impressed with the camera. I have used canon Powershot ever since they were introduced but this camera doesn't live up to reputation of canon.
