The Aquos D64U Series fits a large screen size into incredibly small footprints. The depth of the D64U series is reduced by 30% by changing the layout of the circuits inside the LCD panel.   Duration of ownership:

  Strengths: Clean sleek modern design. Superb contrast ratio (seems even better than what specks indicate) Excellent video processor and super fast response times.

  Weaknesses:No swivel option with supplied stand. Needs quite a bit of adjustments to the picture settings out of the box (especially for skin tones)Sound also weak however improves by adjusting factory setting.

  Overall Evaluation: Loved the design - Sharp packed the beautiful 52 inch panel in to a surprisingly narrow bezel for a clean all glass look - Also very lightweight and slim depth. Ideal for wall mounting. So sleek, the dimension of this TV are comparable with many 46 inch LCD's out there. Bottom mounted speakers curve slightly towards the middle making the TV smile at you :) Good picture quality, haven't tested it in 1080P yet as I am still on the fence about blu-ray or HD DVD however HD content from my cable provider with proper HDMI connectivity was immaculate. SD quality was also OK. Response time was great, I gave up on 120hz for the neat looks of this unit and I do not regret it, 60hz on this LCD were as good as can be. Factory picture settings are all set way too high. Adjust them accordingly to your preference keeping in mind that all scenes should look as natural as possible. You should be able to handle this yourself and or you can always pick up a in expensive HD calibration DVD for help. Sound is basic and I highly recommend turning on the Bass enhancer and surround feature in the settings. Now for the moment you've been waiting for...without further a-due...preceding the drum rolls... I have not seen any banding on my LCD. It appears as though Sharp may have actually rectified this notorious banding issue. Rest assured that I will update this review if I do see any vertical and or horizontal banding. Overall a very good TV. Aquos branded with all the bells and whistles including 1080p and all the connectivity you can ask for. Almost near future proof only lacking 120hz refresh rate which I found not to be necessary at all with this unit.

  Overall Evaluation: Reading all these glowing reviews, not one mention of wall mounting. Just received the Aquos, replacing a 42" plasma, have already installed a universal wall mount on a brick wall from the other TV, and guess what? It no worky. So I have to buy a Sharp AN-52AG4 wall mount as recommended in the manual. The TV only has a few holes in back to mount wall brackets, so a 'universal' bracket won't work. Another $149 or more. Not a huge deal, just a hassle and frustration. Looking at the Aquos picture now, my 42" HP plasma HDTV seems to be crisper with more vibrant colors.

  Strengths: HD looks amazing on this set. Plenty of inputs. Menu is easy to use. USB upgrade port.

  Weaknesses:None.

  Overall Evaluation: This TV is a great set. You can not go wrong. This is my third HD LCD and I am very happy with it. The complaints about the sound are being a bit picky. It really depends on what you are listening to. Try the blue ray "Planet Earth" sounds and looks incredible even with tv only speakers. If I want true surround sound I have my 5.1 stereo. I would buy another in a heart beat!

  Overall Evaluation: Purchased Dec. '07 After set-up I noticed that the sound on 2 of the digital over-the-air channels I receive was breaking up to the point where I could'nt watch them. The signal strength was good,so I contacted Sharp. After 2 service calls they sent a replacement set. It was the same model and did the same thing. I contacted Sharp again and they ended up sending me an older model 92u which has been working fine. Its not the one I wanted. So if you're going to use an antenna, DON'T buy this model!

  Strengths: Sleek narrow frame, lightweight relative to other large screens, large viewing area

  Weaknesses:Lackluster audio

  Overall Evaluation: I was hesitant to order my LCD online and endure a potential shipping disaster (California) but I couldn't resist the great prices found on Pricegrabber. After much research, I chose the Sharp Aquos LC52D64U for 2 key reasons: Its fast response time (4ms) which translates to less pixelation-blur when viewing sports, my primary focus, and its big viewable display with minimal frame/border. It's also lightweight relative to other LCDs making for an easy mount with less worry. In 2 months of using everyday, I haven't had any banding issues noted in other reviews. The color and pix quality has been fantastic. I have HDTV so regular/non-HD channel quality is noticeable especially given the large screen. I couldn't be happier this TV.
