  Duration of ownership: 2 Years

  Strengths: Easy to setup, arrays expansion, fast, and too many strengths. Did I mention about the media server? You can hook it up with your media player from other company and play files from it.

  Weaknesses:A bit pricy than the old NV, maybe because now is Netgear other than Infrant tech. Work mostly with Seagate only. Don't work with 1TB disk.

  Overall Evaluation: This is one of the very best NAS I have use. Although it is about seven hundred dollars, few hundred more than the older version NV, upgrade from NV to NV+ is just move your disk from the old to the new. All the setting get right into the new NV+. No need to reprogram the system if you upgrade from the old NV. Also, the X-Raid offer the same protection of Raid 5 with easy arrays expansion. I use to have 4 400GB drive in a X-Raid arrays. When the 750GB at Fry's drop below 170, I bought 4 of it to upsize the array. You just have to replace the disk one by one for the NV+ to resyn the array. After all the disk been resyn, the array will automatic go though the arrays expansion without any setting from the user. I have the NV for more than 2 years and it is a very solid product. I just got my NV+ for less than a month but other than the new LCD display, it is very much the same as the NV but is a little bit faster. The weaknesses for the NV+ is it only work well with Seagate Disk for now and it don't yet support the new 1TB disk from Seagate. Blog from Infrant Tech said they are working for a new firmware that will support the 1TB disk.
