Duration of ownership: 7 Days
Strengths: Small, cheap
Weaknesses:Doesn't work
Overall Evaluation: Out of the box the green LED lit up and everything seemed okay. Pushed a thumb drive in, no work. Tried again, it worked. Next time, no work. IF I reboot the computer with the flash drive plugged in it works sometimes. A Google search turned up many negative reviews. I threw it away.

Strengths: Performs well with Win TV PVR USB 2 Video Recorder, BenQ External burner, non powered Canon Lide 80 scanner.Compact and good design.
Weaknesses:Warm and ultimately hot to touch.
Overall Evaluation: i purchased this Hub as I have a I O Gear PCMCIA card and like to be certain of compatability. The PC card was expensive and I wanted it to work well consistently.I O Gear always has had a good reputation for quality, however I am most disappointed in this heat issue and I wonder if there is protection inside the unit if it becomes too hot.I have not been able to find any answers to this problem and hope that there are others out there who may provide additional information.I have used it for one week and it does the job, however the heat issue is a concern of our office Techie.

Strengths: Small, attractive design with recess for short USB cable; good for travel.
Weaknesses:Heats up very quickly, even when none of the four ports is being used.
Overall Evaluation: My other (ugly) USB hub is plugged in all of the time and never becomes hot to the touch like this one does. Other than the heat problem, the IOGEAR hub seems to work fine.

Strengths: Tiny size
Weaknesses:None
Overall Evaluation: No problem with heat, no problem with unit recognizing devices, this hub works fine! Tiny size makes it perfect for travel, the cable even tucks into the body when you pack it up. Great device if you need more ports.

Duration of ownership:
Strengths: None
Weaknesses:Overheats. Not reliable. Does not work with some USB devices (1.1 or 2.0)
Overall Evaluation: Avoid this product. Not only does it overheat but it didn't work with more than half the USB peripherals I use. A HP printer (USB 1.1), Iomega HDD (USB 2.0), and MGE UPS (USB 1.1) were not recognized reliably under Windows XP when used with the hub but work flawlessly when plugged into the same USB port on the PC. All of the mentioned peripherals are self powered so power consumption shouldn't be an issue and the PC motherboard is standard Intel chipset. Other USB hubs work fine with same equipment. Disappointing as IOGear products are usually quite good.
