Strengths: Excellent prints on photopaper and beautiful results on standard cardstock. Quiet, ink efficient, good software included. So far works well with after market inks, even when mixed with OEM inks. VERY HAPPY!!!

Weaknesses:None to speak of after 11 months.

Overall Evaluation: I would recommend this product to anyone who has the extra cash to spend on a higher end printer.

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: Has everything you may need to print-scan-copy

Weaknesses:Bulky; questionable software supplied; cumbersome film scanner

Overall Evaluation: One of not-so-many AIO photo printers, that also scans films, and one of the best available for the price. Quality of scans/prints is good to excellent, speed ,easiness of use and network support make this AIO very good addition to your home office. On the downside: this device is somewhat bulky and heavy; enclosed software is not well designed and film scanner may not suit your needs well- the process of film change is very lengthy and cumbersome.

    Duration of ownership: 5 Months

Strengths: scans, copies and prints at a great price, can be hooked up to a router for use over a network

Weaknesses:no fax, slightly unusual set-up for network use, when using the copy function, the top can be slightly cut off.

Overall Evaluation: I purchased the Canon Pixma 970 in Dec 2007 to replace a HP Photosmart Printer that was 6.5 years old and did not work with Vista. The Canon Pixma series has received good reviews but did not have network capability which I wanted because we have multiple PC with different Operating Systems. Then I saw the new MP970 and it had the ability to hook up to a LAN router. I did not want FAX capability so that was not a weakness for me (although it might be for others.) To hook it up to the network you actually have to hook it up to a PC first then then connect it to the router. A little unusual but since my main PC ans my router are close together it was not an issue and was easy to do. It's been working great ever since. I can print to it using my Vista desktop or my XP desktop. When I scan something, I can chose the destination PC to send the scan. The copy function works in both black and white or in color. I have noticed that if I put the source paper right up against the edges of the glass, some text can be cut off on the top - I'm not sure if the printer just can print that close to the edge or what. But I just position the source material differently.I was able to get this printer for under $150 after tax and $100 rebate through Circuit City. I think that's a great price.I am very happy with the printer and would recommend it to anyone looking for a network printer that can print, scan and copy.

    Duration of ownership: 7 Days

Strengths: AIO printer with supreme quality of outputs

    Weaknesses:Bulky, expensive

Overall Evaluation: Canon makes good printers and has been eating up the market share of HP. Canon PIXMA MP970 does it again. This AIO printer can outperform any HP or Epson AIO printers in the same class. The color of photo printing is accurate. The monochrome printing is laser-like quality. The only downside is the printer is very bulky. Yes, did I mention it is very bulky? Make sure you have enough room for this monster.
