Strengths: 1. Currently the least expensive 750GB hard drive with 7200 RPM and 32MB buffer.2. 3-year warranty.

    Weaknesses:1. Not very quiet.2. No accessories for OEM version.3. 3-year warranty (3

Overall Evaluation: This drive has the best capacity/money performance nowadays. The vista experience rating in my system (Phenom 9600 + ECS A780GM-A) jumps from 5.1 for my 160GB Seagate 7200.7 to 5.9, a noticable improvement. It's not very quiet though, and all accessories are missing in OEM version.

Strengths: Huge capacity. Generally fast drive - a little faster than my Maxtor STM3320620AS (320GiB).

    Weaknesses:Running a lot hotter (56 C) with intensive disk activities than my Maxtor STM3320620AS (51 C).Under normal usage, it's also about 3 degree (C) hotter than my Maxtor.Ambient temperature @ 80~85 F.

Overall Evaluation: Generally a good drive. Huge capacity. The way drive manufacture calculate the drive capacity means consumers loose more when the drive is bigger. In this case, it is 750GB (699 GiB). It is like losing about 50GB. If you format the whole disk as one single drive (partition), you receive less overall usable capacity due to Windows needs more space to store directory related information. An excellent alternative would be the new WD (Western Digital) SE16 Caviar 2 platters 640GB (WD6400AAKS) drive.

Strengths: price is good, storage is large. and the performance is better than 500G counterpart. It is very quite

Weaknesses:It is hot when run. and sound is larger than my friend's WD 500G

Overall Evaluation: if you consider use an enclosure for it. It seems do not complicable with my current Antec Mx-1 enclosure. Maybe this generation is a little different from the 500G one.

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: The Hitachi Brand, 750gb space, 32mb cache

    Weaknesses:It contains moving parts

Overall Evaluation: Hitachi has always made hard drives with the best performance with minimal heat along with an acceptable price. This drive definitely meets that threshold for me. The drive wasn't cheap but it has 32mb cache which helps boost performance. It doesn't produce a lot of heat like some Seagate or Western Digital drives I have so I expect it to last longer.

    Duration of ownership:

    Strengths: sizequality

    Weaknesses:None

Overall Evaluation: I have been using Hitachi hard drives for years now and have never had a problem with any of them. Maybe I have been lucky, but I have tended to stick with what has worked. This drive is no different. Excellent price for the size and works great. I didn't find it to be loud either. I would definitely recommend it!
