Duration of ownership: 10 Days
Strengths: Slim and lightweight. Compatible with both Mac and PC.
Weaknesses:Overall, good sound quality, but did hear some static every now and then. Even with this issue, the recording was still loud enough to be heard clearly.
Overall Evaluation: Very slim and lightweight. Quite surprised by its compactness and weight. Overall, clear voice quality. Although, sometimes did hear some background static but the quality was still decent. Especially like that it is compatible with both Mac and PC. Contains sufficient storage. Easy to transfer to the computer. The static is less obvious when listening from the computer. Even from the recorder itself, the recording is still loud enough to be heard.

Strengths: Excellent sound and good design

Overall Evaluation: I owned a sony icdsx46 with 128mb memory, which was not enough for my college class lecture recording. I bought this due to its excellent reviews on the web and it certainly lives up to my expectation. The sound quality is clear and sometimes I do not have to use the earphone. It is much better than the old one which I could not hear the recordings without the easphone. It is easy to use and move files to computers. I never use it as a MP3 player and I have no comments on this part.In summary, this unit is great for recording and I really love it. I would recommend it to anybody who needs a voice recorder

Strengths: Direct USB plug-in to computer for transfer.USB2 interface
Weaknesses:None
Overall Evaluation: I was looking at the cheaper Olympus model, which records in 4-bit wav format, and transfers to the PC via a cable. Since I plan to edit and potentially burn CDs of recorded files, I decided to go with this unit. It has a much higher sampling rate than the other unit, and thus can produce higher fidelity recordings (I may use it to record some music as well as just lectures). It looks to have a reasonable battery life, and since it's so easy to transfer to a PC, I didn't see the need for getting bigger memory. It will hold eight hours of recordings in the very highest mode.

Duration of ownership: 1 Weeks
Strengths: Stylish, very compact and 512 MB of space and above all the microphone and speaker.
Weaknesses:Picks up noise even if you have the filter turned on.
Overall Evaluation: I bought this for my wife as a gift and all she has is praise for this piece. I was listening to some of the recorded conversations on this and just could not believe until I heard what all it picked up in a conference room. One of the speakers was very low...too difficult even for ears was picked up by this.
