Duration of ownership:
Strengths: Easy layering tools. I do a 7 layer file with no problem.
Weaknesses:Slow load time. Do not use the program as your default image viewer.
Overall Evaluation: I've had very little problems with this photo editing software. I've just starting to paint my own car skins for PC racing games. I own games such as Rfactor and ARCA Sim Racing. I've been able to use this program to create the skins with little trouble and it was very easy. I prefer this program over the open source program GIMP as well. It seems to work well for a beginner or moderate photo editor.

Duration of ownership:
Strengths: Low price (I paid $45), easy to use
Weaknesses:Doesn't have the features an experienced photographer needs.
Overall Evaluation: I'm attaching a screen shot of Corel's Paint Shop Pro X2. It's a perfect companion to a casual photographer taking pictures of a vacation. It allows basic editing such a noise removal, brightness/constrast, cropping, sharpening, blurring, and more. It also has a one click photo enhancement button for those who want their photos touched up without a learning curve.

Strengths: Stable and full featured
Weaknesses:Memory intensive
Overall Evaluation: I was very unhappy with the performance of PaintShop Pro XI so I decided to take advantage of a very attractive 2-day promotion to get this version. I'm very happy I did: although I don't see a lot of new features, this version doesn't freeze up on me all the time so I'm using more of those fancy features.

Duration of ownership:
Strengths: Still Paint Shop Pro. Still Corel.
Weaknesses:Still nothing mind-shatteringly new.
Overall Evaluation: There really isn't that much new in this version to warrant a upgrade, unless you are new to PSP. Even then, you could save some money buying the older PSP XI instead- I reviewed that too. Having said that, look out for the store with the big yellow tag, as they happen to sell this at a big discount every now and then, which is the only reason I got this version. The only real difference I see is the 'black' interface (ala Office 2007), which does work quite nicely and makes the pictures stand out more. All the other features are exactly the same for what I use it for, except for a few small bugs they have fixed, which were not HUGE bugs to begin with. Have been using this software for more years than I care to remember (since Jasc days), and it still comes highly recommended.

Strengths: Loads FastFast editing functionsBuilt in image editing/adjustment templatesEasy to remember short-cut key assignments
Weaknesses:Not too many built in templates for generating GIFsDifficult to find help on advanced topics
Overall Evaluation: I have been using PSP since v7. I recently upgraded from v9 to x2. So far it has worked out pretty well. The software is fairly stable in XP environment. I mostly use it to scan and edit scanned documents. It works well with most of what I need. Overall a good replacement for Adobe PS if you don't need the heavyweight features exclusive to PhotoShop.
