    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: - Cheap- Fits very well- Easy to use- large buttons- Floats

Weaknesses:- Floats- Garish orange, blue and yellow highlights

Overall Evaluation: I'm very happy with my purchase in terms of value for money. The only other underwater housing I was able to locate for a canon G9 was 3x the price. The housing fits my new canon g9 like a glove and it feels solid enough that I am not worried about any accidents ruining my camera. No fogging problems on any of my dives, I have only used it for a few warm water dives however. From all of the photos of this product on the web, I thought the front of the case was gray, but this is actually the diffusion a semi-transparent, detachable piece of plastic. The positively buoyant nature of the case can add some difficulty in positioning, but that is balanced with not losing it and you camera in the briny deep in the event of accidentally dropping it. I believe Canon sells additional weights to make this case neutrally buoyant which seems a little cheeky.

Strengths: Easy access to most functions

Weaknesses:No access to macro focus function and no hot shoe for strobe.

Overall Evaluation: Ordinarily, even with no access to a vital function & only the on-camera flash available, this would be a good deal at $160-220.It's not a good deal, because of design flaws. The battery is very strong & may be making more heat. Whatever the cause, this housing fogs every time at 2' snorkeling or 60' diving. Canon shrugs its shoulders. Continual fogging will trash the camera--Canon says the warranties will not cover the camera if it "gets wet," & then they send repeated lectures on proper loading into the housing. Meanwhile, I got dessicant--clear pack indicator dessicant--& got about 6 of them squeezed in there, carefully avoiding the o-ring seal. The difference was marginal. This housing will fog in 10-40 minutes every single time, giving you great shots with the bottom 3rd FOGGED OUT. Not too good if you're in Tahiti with no alternative. In the end, I found myself turning the camera off every few minutes & drifting so it could cool off. But that hardly works with great shots passing by.My experience is based on 3 dives & about 20 shallow reef snorkel outings--all fogged.
