Duration of ownership: 18 Months
Strengths: Works as it should.
Weaknesses:Updates are time consuming on a dialup but fine with DSL. Requires multiple restarts at installation.
Overall Evaluation: I purchased this product (NOT AN OEM VERSION) a year and a half back from CDW, but only installed it a few days ago when my McAfee 7.0 Professional expired. The Norton Anti-virus program says I have a full year of updates and if it continues to run as well as it has so far - receiving as many as 10 or more virus updates per day and running flawlessly - I will upgrade it to the 2004 Norton System Works Professional as it is more than the equivalent of the new McAfee VS 8.0 Professional. McAfee has lost my business and interest because they went to an asinine expensive online version which begs for $100's of dollars to be spent on un-needed and un-wanted programs. I know this because I tested its pre-release Beta versions. I had received a final release McAfee VS 8.0 for my work but disliked it thourally while testing it and after installing the finished version which I then removed.I recommend 2004 Norton System Works Professional as it contains Ghost which will recognize DVD writer drives allowing you copy your OS to a DVD and it contains a utility for removing programs and program remnants and old files. It also contains some other nice utilities. The upgrade is reasonably priced but remember also the 2004 Norton Anti Virus Professional is PERMITTED TO BE INSTALLED TO TWO COMPUTERS.So Norton wins this round all the way around.

Strengths: Good virus protection.
Weaknesses:You better hope that you don't have a problem on weekends. Symantec just downgraded their online tech support to Monday-Friday.
Overall Evaluation: I have used Norton Antivirus for 3 years & have recommended it to friends. I have bought each new version yearly. I tried to post a question Friday at 10:05 PM central Time & found out that I couldn't. They were closed. They have changed their policy for online tech support to Monday-Friday. And evidently they don't let you post a question even then, since I couldn't post a question on Friday. The only option was fee based support. If Norton's won't support their products online, they will lose my business.

Strengths: Good product, the live update work very good.
Weaknesses:Has to resubcript after time expired.
Overall Evaluation: Good to have one in your system. Easy to use, even for novice. Run good in win xp, satisfied with it. But this is the first period I used norton, still have to figure it out how to extend the life update.

Duration of ownership: 3 Months
Strengths: Anyone know of a better Antivirus?
Weaknesses:Only 90 days of updates included, expensive at most sites.
Overall Evaluation: The best Anti-virus by a million miles, doesn't get 5 stars because of the tight fisted 90 day inclusive update. The E-mail pop-up can be turned off (duh!).
