Strengths: Everything is in the same place
Weaknesses:It is hard to figure out, the Quickbooks customer service is horrible, and it doesn't do anything I couldn't do with a spreadsheet and an automated form.
Overall Evaluation: This product doesn't do anything I couldn't do with a spreadsheet and an automated form. Any time I bought something I had to create a new vendor, even though I'd never use that vendor again. Keeping the product working requires a phone call to register it and get codes. On that call, the operator signed me up for a "free" trial. The free part of the trial lasted a month less than they said it would, then they started charging me, even though I never used the service. On my bank statements, there was no identifying information. I called Quickbooks Customer Service and they said they had not charged me. I had to contest the charges with my bank to figure out who was charging me. My PC has since crashed and I cannot access my Quickbooks information without re-buying the program for the MAC platform. As a small business, I will never use this software or work with this company again and recommend other small businesses choose another software program.

Strengths: Simple interface, Pro has some great tools especially sending e-mails using Outlook now and sending invoices in .pdf format.
Weaknesses:Slow at start up - doesn't matter how small your file is. Database manager doesn't seem to work correctly in Vista.
Overall Evaluation: People that have complained about the VISTA problems must have had the product before the updates. I'm using both 2007 pro and 2008 pro on VISTA Ultimate with out problems! 2008 pro is a great alternative to 2009 pro as Intuit is still trying to fix 2009 version! It is so bad that they have dropped their prices for the 2009 version to below $100 at most places. Makes it hard to find 2008 version for cheap... if you can find it!

Strengths: no problems with XP

Overall Evaluation: I am having sharing problems --we are always in multi user mode and since I switched to Vista about 2 months ago -- QB keeps asking me to switch to multi user mode while trying to log in when another employee is working in QB and it is in multi user mode -- not sure what to do any thoughts. When I was running XP -- I had no issues

Strengths: Relatively easy to learn, and easy to use for basic accounting and reporting.
Weaknesses:Multiple problems running QB in Windows Vista; the problems are worse under Vista 64-bit. QB has a built-in PDF creator that causes printing problems and application failures.
Overall Evaluation: QB is advertised as a Vista ready product; this is a bit of a stretch. I suggest reading the user forums. As noted simply trying to print a report can cause QB to crash. You need to use Task Manager to kill the application. Intuit provided a "fix." However certain step must be repeat each time QB is used (deleting the QB PDF creator from the printer list.) It has a decent range of standard reports that can be tweaked (time periods, accounts, clients, etc.). Creating custom reports is not trivial which is why there are so many firms providing QB help (much more expensive than the software). The file import functions supports .iif files (Intuit Import File). These are essential tab delimited file provided by some banks. The iif files are unable to recognize existing vendors, and other key information. Expect to spend time cleaning up data after an .iif import. I've been using QB since 2003; this is the most unstable version. Maybe the problems are Vista related, but it has been a couple of years since Vista hit the market. Intuit really doesn't have any excuse for not working well on Vista 32-bit or the increasingly popular 64-bit.

Strengths: VERY EASY TRANSITION FROM PREVIOUS VERSIONQUICK INSTALL
Weaknesses:TOO MANY INTERRUPTIONS/POPUP WINDOWS OFFERING ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON OTHER PRODUCTS/SERVICES.
Overall Evaluation: I USE QUICKBOOKS PRO TO MANAGE THE FINANCES OF SEVERAL CLIENTS. FOR SMALL COMPANIES, THE DESKTOP VERSION IS MUCH MORE COST EFFECTIVE THAN USING QUICKBOOKS ONLINE, ESPECIALLY IF THERE ARE MULTIPLE ENTITIES INVOLVED.
