Duration of ownership: 2 Days

Strengths: Durable, looks acceptable, feels solid. The keyboard is GREAT. It seems to have quality components

Weaknesses:There's no s-video, no digital video out. The screen is not the greatest. Pretty heavy and bulky, 4 cell battery is deathly underpowered (only lasts 75 minutes.) It's based on last year's model.

Overall Evaluation: This is a good little laptop in the $400 range. These are based on the 2007 Inspiron 1501 design, which is a little blocky. It feels solid, and it appears to be built pretty well. I got the anti-glare WXGA screen, and it has pretty bad light leaks around the edges and at the bottom, especially when the screen is black. The keyboard is FANTASTIC (it's huge) and the mylar protection under the keys seems like a good feature (helps with crud getting in there and water damage.) It's missing some useful outputs, but overall I think it's a pretty solid laptop for the money. I would buy again. Definitely go with the 6-cell battery on these.

Strengths: ease of use, stylish, not to heavy, lots of add ons for an inexpensive price

Weaknesses:none so far

Overall Evaluation: I had a dell before and it quit on me and I was skeptical about getting another one. I was also skeptical about the Vista program because I have heard issues about it, but I am very pleased with my purchase. The computer works great. I is faster than my old dell and has plenty of memory for my purposes. Dell has redeemed themselves with me. This was a great buy for the price!
