Strengths: Easy setup and calibration. Amazing picture with 1080p sources.

    Weaknesses:none found yet

Overall Evaluation: I just upgraded from a Sony VPL-HS51. I was thinking of getting the Sony VPL-VW60 for a lot more money. Fortunately it doesn't have the horizontal shifting like the older Sony. I chose the Sanyo mainly for the Shifting capability and the good reviews it's been getting. And I am glad I did. The color is off a bit right out of the box. It took me about 5 hours to install it on a shelf off the ceiling and calibrate it to my liking(no calibration tools, just played with the various settings)yesterday. The picture I get now is way beyond my expectation. I have seen demos of projector setups costing over $100,000 four years ago. They don't come close to the picture quality of this Sanyo, which sells for around $2,600 after $300 rebate in Canada. The richness of the color, black level, blinding white, contrast and level of detail is just unbelievable. I have a dedicated home theater with total darkness. Watching a movie in there now is like watching a giant plasma panel TV. If you plan to watch movies with 1080p sources(HD-DVD or Blue-ray DVD) in a control environment, look no further, this is the one to get. I don't think I'll have to upgrade the video performance of my home theater anytime soon. I simply don't see how they can possibly improve from this. Paul Lo from Toronto

Strengths: 2 HDMI inputs2 component inputsMultiple iris settingsNifty auto door open. Horizontal and vertical shift (amazing!)Easy menu navigationBigger remote than Z4, but the light up button is helpful.

Weaknesses:Color needs to be properly set, as there are some settings that are off. Bump the gamma up too if you want to get closer to what plasma/LCD screens look like.

Overall Evaluation: All around fantastic 1080p projector. Unbelievable for the money ($2100 after rebate). It's big, it's bulky, but the performance is unmatched by anything it its price range. Should you buy? Yes, if you want/need 1080p. Blu-ray and HD-DVD, plus Playstation and XBox 360 look amazing.

Strengths: Great price! (especially with rebate, at the time of writing)good image qualityquiet!Automatically closing lens coveramazing warranty

Weaknesses:Odor (I believe it will go away with time)low lumens (see comments)

Overall Evaluation: I have been saving up for a long time, and keeping my eye on which (1080p) projector I should get. For most of this year I had my eye set on getting the Optoma HD80.*Just* before i had enough saved up to get it, however, Sanyo just had to come out with the PLV-Z2000, and Panasonic with the PT-AE2000U. This made my decision hard. After a lot of contemplation, and swaying between each projector, I finally decided on this one. Not only was it the cheapest of the three, but others were saying they were very comparable, and overall this one won on most aspects.I should have started by mentioning that I'm upgrading from a very old projector, VERY old (SVideo was its highest resolution input), so in comparison of course everything's better about this. I do have a dedicated theater room. I haven't blacked-out the window yet, but with the blinds down during the day it didn't look too bad.All-in-all, I'm very happy with my purchase. I have watched a few movies, both in HD and SD, as well as playing some games (it's plugged into my computer), and everything looked great (except for Perfect Dark on the N64, but that's the console, not the projector).I did have one issue. Right out of the box the projector worked great, but that evening when I went to watch a movie it didn't work. The next day I called it in under warranty. Their service is spectacular! They quickly sent me information on how to ship the projector back to them, including a fedex number to use! They paid for overnight shipping to their RMA department, fixed it, and overnighted it back to me! I sent it in Wednesday evening, and had it back Saturday Morning right when I woke up! It's been working great since then. (They also have an online form you can see that shows what progress has been made on your RMA, which I thought was great. Most places you RMA it, and as far as you know, it's in the dark abyss until you get a message that it was repaired and sent back to you. Mine showed that I just had a bad fan, they replaced it and shipped it back).I gave 5 stars based on other projectors of its price range. Obviously if you have 5k-10k to spend on a projector this would have gotten 4 stars, or 3 stars for 10k+.

Strengths: Colors out of the box. Lens shift. Silent fan. Price. 3 Yrs warranty.

Weaknesses:Low lumens. Strange odor. Blue ghosting, uneven temperature, unstable focus.

Overall Evaluation: I had a trigger to buy a full 1080p PJ under $2k and finally PLV-Z2000 has arrived. Lens shift is an awesome feature if you want some flexibility in positioning. The fan is absolutely silent. It sits 2 feet behind me and I can't hear any noise. The only note of caution - the lumens are very low, so this PJ is for dedicated home theater only. The next unit to look at would be Panasonic AE2000U. But it's 40% more expensive and has a lesser warranty. After a 2 month of usage, I'm lowering the rating somewhat. The reasons are:1) Blue ghosting, 2 pixels at least2) Uneven white field ~ 1000 K 3) Minor focus lost between power-ups
