Duration of ownership:
Strengths: Plays both HD DVD and Blu Ray Disc, upgradable firmware, HQV post-processor, 7.1 multi-channel output
Weaknesses:lack of USB port
Overall Evaluation: I have now had this unit for about 2 months and so far it has been a great player. It's ability to play both Blu-Ray and HD DVDs has been a plus since you can now find great prices on HD DVD discs all over the internet. This player also does a fantastic job up-converting old DVDs to 1080p. I just recently purchased a TV capable of handling 1080p so until now I wasn't able to experience the up-conversion but it has been worth the wait. When compared to the other dual format player on the market, the one from LG, this definitely had more connections on it which made it more compatible with the older Onkyo receiver I'll be using. The only thing lacking as far as new Blu-Ray standards go is a USB port, but it does have an ethernet connection so it can be upgraded as new upgrades become available. Overall I highly recommend this unit to anyone wanting a top notch player with the ability of playing all current video DVD formats.

Duration of ownership:
Strengths: Got the best of both worlds, Blu-ray & HD DVD formats. No matter which format wins this battle, you are one step ahead of the game.
Weaknesses:Takes more time to load movies.
Overall Evaluation: This DVD player is highly recommended for HDTV's with a 1080p, higher contrast ratio (15000:1 or higher) and an Auto Motion Plus 120Hz (ie. Samsung's 46'' HDTV, Model #: LN-T4671F). Also, consider purchasing a higher end HDMI cable (Monster 1000).
