    Duration of ownership: 5 Days

    Strengths: none

    Weaknesses:computer system got stuck upon installation

    Overall Evaluation: I would not recommend this software due to its horrible performance. My computer system immediately hung up upon installation and I had to reboot it. After this point, I had to remove this software and use the other one instead (Kaspersky).

    Strengths: Reliable, effective scanning

    Weaknesses:Like many similar products, slow

    Overall Evaluation: McAfee is an established and reliable software company, and this product does what it needs to do. It scans thoroughly and updates consistently, but like most every other product in this category, it can be slow and bog down one's computer resources. I personally have never encountered a serious virus problem on any of my computer equipment, but then again, perhaps it just means that my programs are doing their job.

    Strengths: None

    Weaknesses:Installation problems, restrictive update, messy interface.

    Overall Evaluation: Absolutely disappointed with this product. Starting with installation which threatens (yes threaten) you into going through ridiculous amount of registration and sales pitch steps. If you don't go through that process, McAfee will not provide any update. Annoying as hell. After installation, the firewall would not stay up. I had endure another 30 minute on the phone waiting for an answer from McAfee Tech Support. Turned out I had uninstall and download another version to intall. Another round of annoying registration hell. Also, it forced me to uninstall Spybot Search and Destory and Ad-aware scanners that I like. The interface is messy with crytic controls spreading all over the place. After going through all that and seeing how messy is the operation interface, I decided to uninstall it. Waste of time and money.

    Duration of ownership:

    Strengths: efficient antivirus, fast, easy to upgrade, unobtrusive

    Weaknesses:single user license, can slow a laptop while scanning

    Overall Evaluation: I used pretty much every AV solution on the market, and I still find McAfee a very good buy, price/quality ratio. It is very fast, has a very slick GUI, easy to install and upgrade. The full scans are relatively resource heavy, so be careful when you schedule them if you are using a laptop. Altogether there are very few products that can compete with McAfee in quality, but they are considerably more expensive

    Strengths: Do what it is supposed to do.

    Weaknesses:It does take away system resources. Do not use it if you have a slow computer.

    Overall Evaluation: It provides 3 in 1 protection: anti virus, anti spyware, and stop hackers. So it does have some functionality of the internet security. New McAfee X-Ray detects and kills malicious applications that hide from Windows and anti-virus programs. New McAfee SiteAdvisor adds safe ratings to websites and search results. New Stealth mode hides your ip on the Internet, making your pc invisible to hackers -- more like a firewall.
