Duration of ownership:
Strengths: Quality, sharpness, accessories
Weaknesses:Price, no VR.
Overall Evaluation: We have an example of a glass from the highest shelf. Zoom and focus rings are smooth, lens is well built, HSM is quick and accurate. Works great with my D300, is sharp from 2.8, doesn't have any distortions even at 24 mm. It comes with the soft case and hood, and 5 years warranty. In my opinion is worth the money and I recommend this product.

Duration of ownership:
Strengths: Absolutely no barrel distortion from 24 through 70mm. Sharp. Weight is not a problem. It is worth the price.
Weaknesses:Absolutely none.
Overall Evaluation: I would recommend this lens to any professional or serious hobbyist. Although expensive, you do get what you pay for. The weight and size of the lens is not a factor as it balances well on a D3.

Duration of ownership:
Strengths: Speed, size, fit (on a D300), sharpness - wow!
Weaknesses:Pricey
Overall Evaluation: New 24-70mm f/2.8 is all that and a bag of chips, to boot... Sharper than many of my primes, portable, fast lens has not come off of my D300 since I got it - this lens, the 14-24, and the 70-200mm f/2.8's are an unbeatable system...!

Strengths: Build, Sharp, Durable, Nice Bokeh
Weaknesses:No VR, price
Overall Evaluation: Take a look at its amazing MTF chart, and its price should be justified.Perfect walk-around lens for Nikon FX D3. I would like to shoot everything with this lens right now.But the only bad thing I have to complain is there is no VR.

Duration of ownership: 20 Days
Strengths: Durable, Sharp Focus, Strong Construction
Weaknesses:Almost twice more expensive than its Canon counterpart
Overall Evaluation: As with all nikon pro glass the construction build is of great quality. It is durable and easy to handle. The lens zooms really smoothly. Lens is extremely sharp especially in the center focus areas. The bokeh is wonderful at the wide apertures. The only true negative as usual, is the high price, almost twice more expensive than its Canon counterpart.
