    Strengths: Easy to set up-fast print speed!

    Overall Evaluation: Because my Windows98 vintage HP inkjet finally crapped out I picked up the HL-2170W from Best Buy for $109 yesterday. Connected VIA ethernet cable to my Airport Extreme wireless router, the wireless Macbook was very easy to run print setup on (5mins). Running the Auto seek setup on my Dell desktop XP Home machine was a bit more troublesome and this comp is connected directly to the mac router. I had to manually print out the IP address of the printer and type it in during network print setup. Both Comps are now printing very nicely to the brother.

    Strengths: Easy setup on wireless, reasonable toner costs

    Weaknesses:Dims lights ith startup power draw

    Overall Evaluation: This is a great home printer. Its not the smallest; but with the wireless network feature you can put it anywhere nearby (you don't need to have it within a cable length of your desk). Time for the first page out is pretty good; and I have no complaints about the print quality. I like that the paper cassette is a closed draw -- I've had drums scratched from dirt accumulation on the paper with a different model printer. Price is highly variable -- I got mine for about $70 with coupons. If it were color and could do duplex, it would be perfect.

    Strengths: Wireless printing option

    Weaknesses:You have to manually set it as a static IP to prevent the router from changing it. Wish it had a sleep option. Also wish it was in color.

    Overall Evaluation: I can't say enough good things about this printer. I wish it had a sleep option though. Otherwise it is always on. Also, it was difficult to get it configured properly because the router kept changing the IP but from then on, it's smooth sailing. I wish it was in color!

    Overall Evaluation: Since purchasing this printer, I bought two more to satisfy the needs of my small business clients. All of the people I installed this printers for are very happy with them. Some of the users may complain that the printer does not have enough diagnostic lights to provide a comprehensive enough status reporting. These users should try connecting to the printer via a web browser to view a VERY comprehensive real-time status report on all aspects of printer operation and configuration.

    Overall Evaluation: This is probably one of the easiest printer setups I have ever done. After following the instructions on the included cd, the printer was wirelessly printing from our 5 computers in the house. It prints very fast, the type/images are crisp and clear, and its totally silent when its in sleep mode. (Which I was worried about, but it turned out great.) I would recommend this printer to anybody that wants an inexpensive laser for their home or small office. Its fantastic!
