The Kodak EasyShare C813 Digital Camera provides 6.1 megapixel of resolution, a 3x optical zoom lens, high sensitivity available up to ISO 1250, and digital image stabilization. It also uses the exclusive Kodak Color Science image processing chip for phenomenal image quality with rich color and accurate skin tones.It also has sixteen programmed scene modes (e.g., party, fireworks, children) and three color modes which help you capture the best shot with the least effort. For capturing more than just still pictures, the camera also features high-quality (VGA) video capture, playback and video action print options.On-camera picture-enhancing features include cropping, auto picture rotation, digital red-eye reduction, and blurry picture alert. The EasyShare C813 also integrates Kodak's Share button with its 'favorites' feature for storing multiple pictures in an on-camera digital photo album. Each picture can then be shared anytime on the camera's high-resolution LCD display.

Duration of ownership: 2 Months

Strengths: Picture and video quality are superb.

Weaknesses:Camera mode selector dial is awkward. Unlike older Kodak models, you cannot turn off the LCD screen when taking a photograph. Feels a little cheap; scratches and dents quite easily.

Overall Evaluation: I got this camera as a replacement for my older Kodak camera, which I happened to drop and break right before my summer vacation to Europe. I picked the C813 because I was already familiar with the Kodak EasyShare cameras--there were very little differences in the modes available, and I did not have to learn anything new before using this camera. As for my trip, it was a perfect choice. My pictures were stunning and the video quality has improved greatly over the older Kodak cameras. Additionally, the C813 was much faster than my older C330 when it came to taking quick pictures (oftentimes in rapid succession), which was a welcome surprise. The digital image stabilization mode, which I once thought was only found on Panasonic cameras, was incredibly handy when I toured the streets of Berlin by bike. Although the camera design is questionable and sometimes awkward (the dial at the top of the camera is quirky and a nuisance to use, especially when switching from video to picture mode), and it is definitely not as sleek and eye-catching as more expensive Japanese models, it is still worth the price. With 8.2 megapixels and 3x optical zoom, you are still getting a very good deal for your money. Even though I've already noticed obvious signs of wear and tear (scratches, buttons loosening) despite my careful maintanance of the camera--another sign that the quality is not all that great, I'm looking forward to hopefully using this camera back home in the States for quite a long time.

Overall Evaluation: For a digital camera that priced at just a little bit over $100 with over 8MP is definitely a good value. Kodak is a trusted name in the digital camera field. The camera is very user friendly and easy to use. I can start using it basically right out of the box. Of course, you may still want to read the manual for some special functions. The style of the camera is basic and nothing to be real excited. However, the camera has some cheap plastic feel to me. Overall, it is a good camera at a very good price.

Strengths: Pictures are clear and you have a lot of options

Weaknesses:The lag time between the flash and picture actually being taken

Overall Evaluation: I'm happy with this purchase. The pictures I've taken have been great and you have many options like image stabilization, video, night landscape and more. This camera is also very easy to use. I would suggest that if you get this camera you purchase a memory card because although it has an internal memory it only lets you store 12 pictures. The only thing that I'm not crazy about is the lag time between the flash and actually taking the picture. I have small children and by the time I get them perfect they move and the picture captures the movement, but other than that the camera is great!
