PowerShot A590 IS Digital Camera offers 8.0 megapixels, a 4X optical zoom, Optical Image Stabilizer and 2.5 LCD. 19 shooting modes range from manual to automatic including Easy Mode to handle all the details automatically, from setting the flash to reducing blur and improving image quality. DIGIC III Image Processor with Enhanced Face Detection sets focus, exposure, flash and white balance automatically for greater freedom. Motion Detection Technology automatically reduces blur by calculating subject movement and selecting ideal exposure and ISO settings. Print/Share Button allows easy direct printing and downloading. Camera features ID Photo Print and Movie Print with select PIXMA Photo Printers, SELPHY Compact Photo Printers and Night Display for easy viewing in low light. Duration of ownership: 40 Days

Strengths: The Features like Fireworks, Kids&Pets, Beach, Snow, Aquarium, Foliage, Sunset, Night Scene, Image Stabilizer, & Indoor Modes are a Huge Asset to have in a Camera for this Size & Price! Not to mention it also is an 8.0 Megapixel Camera. And to Top it off, it has Manual Modes as well. I absolutely love this Compact Camera. Highly Recommend!!!!

Weaknesses:The only weakness found thus far is Battery Useage... That's if you take alot of pictures like I do. But you can always buy a Power Adapter for it. Also, there are no easy modes for fast moving objects.

Overall Evaluation: A Great All-Around Family Camera. It's a Perfect Camera for almost any situation or scene, except Fast Moving Objects. Highly Recommended for People who have little to no experience with camera's.

Duration of ownership: 2 Years

Strengths: Excellent pictures-I paid $149 two years ago-various selection of photo options-easy to download on computer.

Weaknesses:Pictures/videos won't play on any TV when using the cords that came with camera-short battery life until I found a compatible battery for this camera.

Overall Evaluation: This is my first digital camera and I enjoy it very much. I'm a beginner and still have a lot to learn.The best battery for this camera is Duracell Powerpix. One try, and you'll be sold.

Strengths: capable of attaching wide-angle lens converterBattery life indicator gives very ample low battery warning

Weaknesses:Discontinued model (should not have been discontinued!)

Overall Evaluation: Picture quality exceeds that of my Nikon Coolpix P50 & easier to use menus. Canon Zoom Browzer software is easier to use than that provided with my Nikon.

Overall Evaluation: After months of trying to make a decision, I went with the A590...8 mp, IS...LOW price and I LIKE the COLOR of the camera...it's not black, it's a graphite color and pretty classy.Pics look great.

For a beginner's camera, the PowerShot A590IS offers amazing image quality and superb stabilization.

My digital camera expertise begins and ends with this fact: I cannot resist the urge to photograph a couple of fuzzballs named Chuckie and Violet. I'm a classic novice point-and-shooter, and the crème de la crème of my snapshots find their way onto Flickr or Facebook.
