    Strengths: I think generally speaking it a good HDTV, but LCDs still topped off most Plasma. The biggest unsolved problem about plasma is its "burn in" problem. I recommend you to check out http://www.squidoo.com/best-hdtv to find out why LCDs are better than Plasma. It also have information on what best and cheapest HDTV to get in 2009.

    Weaknesses:Plasma's biggest weakness is that it will have screen glare when watched during day time. Another unsolved problem is the screen will have "burn in" if a still image is displayed too long.

    Overall Evaluation: Overall LCDs are less likely to have "burn in" problem when compared to plasma. LCDs are better to view during day and night time. In conclusion, I think LCDs have more advantage when compared to plasma.

    Strengths: Connectivity, color, blacks, size, sound, and very sturdy.

    Weaknesses:Remote control design and layout

    Overall Evaluation: I bought this just prior to Black Friday. The price was as good as anything that I would have WANTED to wait in line at 1 AM in the morning to get, but the reputation of this TV is the main reason I decided to buy. I read all of the reviews, so I knew I could handle the cons (so few...!). First, I must say, I ordered the TV expecting it to take a week or more to arrive, but received it 3 days after the order. It was double boxed with no chance of damage occurring. Out of the box, the TV is immediately impressive. It really is heavier than other 50" teles, due to solid components. There are plenty of connectivity options for today's home theaters, as wells as some nice old school options! The connection panel is conveniently located and easy to connect all cables. Once the TV was turned on, it really did surprise me with the brilliance of the blacks and the vivid colors. I have the TV about 10 feet from the couch and the picture is magnificant! However, veiwing it at about 4 feet, you can see the difference between 720P and 1080P. For my size room and seating distance, there is no discernable difference between 720P and 1080P, the only difference being the giant savings for buying this tele. I've watched movies (non-Blu-Ray), standard definition television and HD television, and plenty of sports. The fast movement is amazingly impressive with the 600 hz sub field drive, crystal clear with virtually no "ghosting". All of the movie scenes where the screen should have been black, but were previously dark gray on my other tele's, are DARK BLACK on this set. Dark Knight was immensely better on this set than I have ever seen before. In all, this set was the best value given its performace, size, reputation, and durability. The ONLY negative I have for the tele is the remote, it's controls are attrocious, but, hey, who really uses their tv remote anymore!!

    Overall Evaluation: I waited until 2009 to buy a plasma (or LCD for that matter) tv because I thought they were overhyped. Furthermore, if I did not have HD, I felt that my old tube tvs had a better picture, and didn't cost me $1k+.Well, this tv has an amazing picture, truly high quality. My friends had a cheaper LG LCD tv, and that made me not want to buy a tv. But this has a great picture, especially with HD, and it was easy to set-up.I would recommend this. I've had it for about 2 months so far. The only complaint I have is with buydig, not the tv. The first tv I recieved was broken. Then, when they brought the replacement tv, they wouldn't take back the broken tv. So I have two of the same tvs in my house, and one has a broken plasma panel, and is just sitting in the front of my house.

    Strengths: Size for value; easy set up; Amazing picture

    Weaknesses:Non-turnable base

    Overall Evaluation: I spent a lot of time doing research and decided that this was the one for me. The picture is incredible. The price set it in. After looking at some reviews I haven't seen any of the problems that anyone has reported. I definitely love it!!

    Strengths: GREAT WITH WIDE SCREEN MOVIES

    Overall Evaluation: I have owned an earlier version of this HDTV (50 inch)for nearly two years, and watch over 250 movies per year. The comments made in an earlier review concerning wide-screen movies are completely without merit. I watch a new movie almost every night (Netflix customer) and most of them are wide-screen (meaning there is some black at the bottom and the top). There is no PERMANENT IMAGE RETENTION PROBLEM (lines at top and bottom). It is TEMPORARY and will go away if you watch TV for five minutes. I also have a "white picture" on an SD card to clean up the screen in a minute or so, but I really don't need to use it.I take all of my camera pictures in 16:9 and display them on the screen directly from the SD card. The pictures are fantastic. As for 720p, my son in law owns a 1080p Panasonic 50 incher, and if you sit more than 7ft. away from the screen, it is nearly impossible to tell the difference.I also own a smaller LCD (Toshiba)that is on the wall in the kitchen, so I am familiar with both technologies. My impression is that Plasma gives better colors, blacker blacks, better action performance, and is preferable for sizes 50 inches and up. LCD's are great for 37 inches or less, and it is a tossup in the 42-47 inch range.
