  Strengths: HD Clarity; 24Mbps Recording; 8MP Still Photo; Optical Image Stabilization; Size.

  Weaknesses:Only 10X optical zoom; lack of an HDMI cable to Mini HDMI

  Overall Evaluation: Overall Evaluation: The perfect choice for trips. The video (and still photo) quality is amazing.

  Strengths: HD Clarity; Manual Settings; 8MP Still Photo; Quick Start; Easy Menu; Custom Button; Size.

  Weaknesses:Only 10X optical zoom; Low Light Performance; Weak Stabilizer; Lack of View Finder.

  Overall Evaluation: Extremely versatile HD cam loaded with manual settings, including: 1080i or 480i; 24 or 30 frames; 24 Mbps. The perfect choice for trips. The video (and still photo) quality is amazing. Extremely fast start (from power off and sleep mode) means not missing great shots.The few low lights, for me were: 1) limited 10X zoom (but it's due to the large CMOS sensor)2) Stabilizer not very effective against shakes from walking3) A bit noisy in low light but better than previous models4) A view finder would be handy at times.

  Weaknesses:Canon Accessories could be less expensive.

  Overall Evaluation: I bought the HFS100 for an excellent price at 6th ave.This cam produces awesome high def video and the audio is great. Still shots are fine. Manual adjustments galore. Use a tripod. Excellent choice.
