    Duration of ownership: 8 Months

    Strengths: Optical zoom, Startup time, Advanced shooting modes, Macro ability, Small physical dimensions.

    Weaknesses:No optical viewfinder, I have seen better red-eye reduction systems.

    Overall Evaluation: For the size and class that this camera fits, you will be hard pressed to find another camera with the 7x optical zoom and 12+ MP image quality/size. The macro ability is unsurpassed for a compact point and shoot. The proprietary battery is a plus for this camera as I can get about 135-155 shots at full resolution with some flash shots included. The zoom is fast but a little learning curve is required to get a precise zoom fit. High quality feel and the fit and finish is pure Nikon. When I use one of these new fangled "Mega" pixel cameras in the $75-$150 range, I am constantly reminded of you get what you pay for. No macro clarity. Sub-par 3-4 optical zooms, Mechanical dials for function select. I could go on, but you get the picture. This S630 is stylish, precise, feature packed, and dependable. When I pull this out of the case, I know the quality will be there.
