Strengths: great price; small footprint; good picture on both blu-ray and standard dvds; remote also works on non-Sony tv; plugged into router and automatically updated firmware
Weaknesses:Takes awhile to load blu-ray discs when use energy saving mode, but standard dvds load quickly; not as many features as more expensive models; HDMI cable must be purchased separately
Overall Evaluation: very good value

Strengths: Received product before Christmas.
Weaknesses:Shipped in original box with nothing else. Say they require signature for delivery but left it on front porch in a snow storm in original packaging.
Overall Evaluation: Was a Christmas present and the person the gift was for saw it on the porch with pictures of what it was. I did not even get to see his face when he saw it. Was supposed to be a surprise. Could have been damaged or stolen from porch because anyone could have seen the product sitting out there.

Strengths: Simple and reliable. X.V. Color support.
Weaknesses:Not lit remote (sometimes you will need it). What is that USB port is in the back? It does nothing! Why? because it supports only SONY BD Live 'feature' and is good for nothing...else.
Overall Evaluation: Got it from Bydig for 127 - you may see much better deal in 2010.I have Sony BDP-BX2 from Costco and it came with backlit remote and HDMI cable. This S360 came with no HDMI, but you can get it for couple bucks from monoprice.com for 4-5 bucks (just make sure that it is HDMI 1.3/CL2). I had unique chance to compare identical DVD-R's recorded AVCHD video from my Sony CX100 HD camcorder. And I can tell that it appears that S360 is a bit "brighter", or washed out than my Costco BX2. If you had no chance to compare, you will never notice a difference and it is really, not that important. Both units are basically identical. Even from appearance. OK, maybe one difference is that S360 remote is not backlit ... so what?I already mentioned AVCHD word and this was major reason why I got Blue Ray player. First I got Sony CX100, which with supplied Sony software can record full HD video in AVCHD format on REGULAR DVD-R!!!! Which can be played on Blue Ray players (all new ones support that). So after reading reviews on BR player and really trying to decide between the best affordable (in 2009) Samsung and Sony, I found out that Sony has much less defects than Samsung BDP1600, which was my second choice, and I think, I made right decision. 1. AVCHD movies look GREAT on correctly calibrated Panasonic 46"G10 plasma! I'm happy with this decision. So, my camcorder>BR Player>Panasonic HDTV all use x.v.color and this feature is really good. I like the way it improves video quality.2. Blue Ray disks playback is ... awesome! No hickups here.3. Old (analog) DVD's are being "upconverted" to better quality, please do not have expectations that they will be equal to Blue Ray qulity! and they look better than ever. I tried my old DVD-R's made on Panasonic (whatever) model, and video was noticeably better. So, as you can see, there is very good reason to ditch (sorry - recycle, at Best Buy or some place like that) your old DVD player and get Blue Ray. This Sony is very nice, and I highly recommend it. If you need networking, and other features you need to look for more expensive models. This player will suit most people needs. PS: it will be nice to have an USB port, allowing to connect any Flash Drive, or external USB harddrive and play all popular video/audio formats. Including MTS and M2TS - high definition video... but I guess, more likely we will see this somewhere in 2010. Hope, Sony and others are reading this... :)
